If I hook up a wireless router to a desktop computer would internet work on it?

I already have cable internet hooked up onto one computer, and a router for my laptops. So if I get another router for my other desktop computer would it be able to pick up an internet connection?

What would be a good wireless router to enable me to use Xbox Live?

as well as connecting our two family computers which have a cable Internet connection.

Would it be possible to buy a wireless router and connect it to the back of our old Mentor – 4-port 10/100Mbps Ethernet Broadband Router.

Would I get double the connection speed if I connected two mobile broadband modems to my computer?

If I connect two mobile broadband modems to my PC, would I get double the download speed since both of them are streaming data? Would they interfere with each other? If they share the same radio frequency, would that make them share the available bandwidth on that frequency like two computers streaming data from the same landline?

What if I have two computers and I connect them to separate mobile broadband modems. Would their combined download speed be doubled?

Just curious…
Thanks for the responses – it seems the limitation is in the operating systems, and not the hardware then? What about the two (unnetworked) computers with separate modems approach? If they both had 8mbit wireless modems would each of them independently be able to download with 8mbit speed, thus giving a maximum speed of 16mbit? I know it would work if it was two separate landlines but with two wireless modems I’m curious about interference.

Oh, and just for clarification I’m just curious about how these unusual setups would work in theory, I’m actually not planning to do any of this! :D

Why would a landlord of apartment building make communication devices on the roof?

What could this be for?

Im looking for information related to hospital networks where would i look?

I am trying to find out information on the networks hospitals use including connectivity of the network and how information is stored or sent to users. I would also like to know what kind of physical equipment (telecommunications) the staff uses to keep in touch. Also it would be useful to find data on the day to day routines of a hospital staff. I am trying to do this for a school project so any help would be appreciated.

Which way would be better to wire an Xbox 360 for Live?

My roommate and I want to get hooked up to live. I came up with two solutions. One is run a cat5 cable through the wall, under the basement stairs through another wall and into the router. The other way is make wall jacks in both walls running the connection under the stairs and getting two shorter cat5 cables to plug into the wall jacks. My question(s) is which is more doable and cheaper? We are sort of on a budget, but willing to spend some money on this project if we have to.

What would be the most profitable carreer orientation for me?

I have two master’s degrees: Telecommunications and Image Processing. I am currently doing a PhD in medical image processing.
I have very good knowledge of computers (especially linux, programming and internet), and to a lesser extent, of applied mathematics.
I speak french, english and spanish fluently, with good understanding of german and catalan. I also have reasonable communication and team work skills, and some knowledge of economics and politics.
So what career would bring me the most money? How much can I earn? (i’m not asking about the rest here, i can figure it on my own) What skills should I develop? (I have 1 year of PhD left, during which I have considerable freedom to work on what I want)

Thank you!
Could you be more precise? “Computer engineer” does not tell me which skills to develop.
Also, I’m pretty sure there are more profitable ways to use my skills than being a computer engineer.
