Is there any problem if we put network cables & electrical wires together for office networking?
We are doing networking for new office and electrical work also. The electrical engineer want to put both the Cat5 cable & electrical cables together in one box.Is there any problem if we put them together?
Can I hook up internet through the 2 extra wires in phone line?
I want to put wired internet in my room, but the only wires going up there are a phone line (cat6) and an rg6 line. The phone jack only uses 4 wires of the 6. Is there any way to hook up internet through the 2 extra wires or through the rg6? I’ve heard one needs at least 6 wires to run the internet, but idk. Also, how would i hook up 2 wires to an ethernet jack/cord?
maybe it isnt cat6, but the cable has 6 wires in it and my phone is hooked up with 4 wires. not 2
what device do I need to split phone and DSL wires…?
I have one cat5e wire coming into my house, I have cat5 ran to 8 rooms and want to split the main and have an equally strong signal of phone and dsl in the 8 locations, what device do I use to do such? I already have wireless but this is for future homeowners to be able to plug in at each room, and I also need to split the phone lines.
i have speakers in different rooms, with the speaker wires leading to one place.need ideas on amp/av receivers
there are 12 speakers, 4 outside. cat5e wires also in all the rooms. the speaker wires go to the basement media room. there is a cat5e connection from there to the main family room.
the basement room has an a-v receiver for the media room.
i would like to run all the speakers and need ideas on options including a music server.
how would I arrange the wires to make an ethernet jack?
I need to arrange the wires in a cat5 cable so that I can make an ethernet jack that I can use to plug an ethernet cable to connect to the internet.
Would wiring all wires on a Cat5 cables to my phone line increase speed?
Hey there Y!Answers, i have a question thats really been bothering me about my ADSL speeds,
i have AT&T Elite (pointless IMO), and it claims “6mbps”, kinda low, i know. but my speeds cap out at 680kbps even though a speed tests claims i have 6.4mbps down.
so would wiring new Cat5e cables along the side of my house into the wall jack (i only have one that branches off into 2 other ones… i live in a really old house).
the cable thats connected outside my house is from around the 90′s or early 2000′s, (Not Cat5) but i recently had my phone line fixed and they halfway wired the outside with cat5e.
so would using cat5e cables THROUGHOUT the whole house and cat 6 on my routers really improve my speeds?
and if so how would i go about wiring the cables at the service box? (i noticed currently only 2 wires from inside the cables are being used… why just 2?) and i have my Linksys Wireless N/Gigabit router connected to my current AT&T router/modem and it seems pointless since its running off a phone line cable with only 2 wires being used (ironically the brand is 2wire),
so all together i was wondering if using cat5e wiring throughout would help increase my speeds, how would i go along wiring my Linksys router directly to the phone line rather than through the modem which makes it pointless, and how would i go along connecting it to the back of the house in the service box? (I installed new phone jacks and they all have cat5 connections but the 6feet of wiring leading into the house is really old wiring)
thanks in advance, as always i will choose a best answer.
Cat5 with 7 wires, can it be done.?
I am wiring a cat5 cable that is already installed in the wall. Only 7 of the 8 wires work. Is there a way this will work for connecting my computer to the network? I am using the T568 wiring standard and currently pin 8 is the one that is not working.
I’m using T568B.
I have access to both ends of the cable, and have re-wired both ends twice, to the break must be in the walls somewhere.
So i found this:
Pin Functionalities
1 Data (TX +)
2 Data (TX -)
3 Data (RX +)
4 Ground (-)
5 Ground (-)
6 Data (RX -)
7 Power (+)
8 Power (+)
You are saying that losing pin 8 (Power) the NIC will still be able to send/rec on the network?
How hard is it to run wires through my attic and walls?
It seems like when the Comcast and alarm guys do it, is it a piece of cake. I tried to contact them to see if they could come over to run other wires to my other rooms, and they said that they were not allowed. I want to run ethernet to my other room, and yes yes I know about wireless, but I heard about bad connections, incompatible modems, etc. I basically want to be able to play my Xbox 360 from my other bedroom.
I will purchase the ethernet plate, cat6 coupler, and 50 ft cat6 ethernet wire. I can cut the hole in the wall, I just need to know how I can get the wire to run down the wall I want into the faceplate for me to connect. Plus I have the type of insulation that looks like snow all over my attic so I will have to dig through all of that.
Why does the ethernet cord that comes with the XBOX360 only have 4/8 wires?
On the XBOX360 cord that comes with the system, there are only 4 wires where on regular cat5e cords there are 8. There are still 8 pins however, which is a ethernet standard. any reason for the other 4 cords not to be there?
Is it possible to punch down wires without using a tool?
I’m trying to activate the CAT5 ports in my house and I bought a patch panel to punch down the CAT5 wires into. I don’t want to spend another $50 on a tool. Is it possible to punch down the CAT5 wires into the patch panel using my fingers? or just another thin-pointed object and shove the wires into the patch panel?
Why does analog phone cable have 6 copper wires when it only uses one pair of them?
I work with Cat5e networking cable all the time, but every once in awhile we have to do an analog phone drop, so why is it that analog phone cable uses an RJ-11 plug and has three copper pairs, when it only uses one?
Im Confused about Cat5e cabel. Basically Its a 4 pair wire (total 8 wires).?
My DSL and phone line use 2 pairs 4 wires, 2 wires for phone 2 wires for internet, that leaves 2 pairs left. What r these pairs used for? Does your ethernet cable out of your router use all 4 pairs (8wires).
What is the best router for a comcast home network with three computers and an xbox hooked up with long wires?
My internet is really bad and i think it might be our router… its the one that comes stock when you get comcast internet.
Oh yeah and we have really fast internet sometimes on the computers but on my xbox it really sucks.
What are the 4 wires that come from the Telecommunication Company used for?
Can someone please tell me what each wire is used for. They are arranged in serial: Blue, Orange, Green & Brown. I only use the blue & orange lines for the phone. what are the green & brown lines used for?
Does moisture cause tarnish on phone copper wires and affect phone service (but not ADSL)?
I experienced loud crackling noise on my phone. Phone company repair man came out and tested good to my 8th floor junction box, but not to my 8th floor apartment. He said there were 4 pairs of wires available. He previously jumped from Pair #1 to #2 on similar complaint. Now he is jumping from #2 to #3. I have one last pair left. He suggested moisture and water in wire conduits causing copper to rust, then, when lit up, rust turns to “copper tarnish” which degrades signal. But while my phone stopped working (no dialing in and out), ADSL for Internet access still works. Do I really need to pull out old wiring as he suggested or is there another simpler remedy? Also, if there are bridge taps (wires branched out to various other rooms in the apartment), do I need to look for a junction box in my wall before pulling the wires out?
