Can I run internet from a laptop to a desktop via the laptop’s wifi and an ethernet cord?
Here is the problem. I just got a new desktop, but the ethernet in my dorm room does not work. The wi-fi does, but the desktop does not have a wireless card.
Is there any way that I can run wireless internet from the laptop to the desktop, possibly using an ethernet cable?

I know i can get wifi hooked up but I tried it once and didnt work and was expensive. I just went to best buy and bought a CAT6 premium network cable. I was told to plug it into my laptop and into the modem. Problem is, when I got home there was no extra space in the modem. Or in the back of the computer. There is one space for this size cable in the modem but its occupied by a cable that goes to the back of the computer. Im not sure where I should put the cable. please help thanks in advance
help I’m trying to setup xbox live from wifi laptop to console via cat5e ethernet cable?
I have a ethernet cable from my wifi laptop to my xbox live console…it can’t seem to get the connection to the xbox but I have internet on my laptop. I’m running vista. My IP was set to automatic but now I’m guessing it needs to be static….but I don’t know what to use or same 1 as my laptop or netgear router?? When I put my mouse over the 2 pcs with the earth/internet it shows my netgear connection local and internet, and then the new 1 from the ethernet cable ..unidentified..as local only

Is it possible to chain a wi-fi router to my other router in order to extend my wi-fi range? In other words, what I want to do is plug another router onto my Cat5e cable. Would that work? That part of my house is too far from my original router. I can’t get a signal. Thanks. Chuckie
