My house is a total dead zone. I can only get reception for my cell phone outside in the backyard and upstairs in certain areas. I remember reading last year about about a relatively new technology that lets you take advantage of your wireless broadband signal to boost your cell phone signal. Can anyone tell me what this technology is called and direct me to to a site that tells me more about it and the products available for this technology.

I have a 2wire dsl modem/router with 4 ethernet jacks and 1 usb port and im wondering what is better to use to connect to the internet/download stuff? I know its possible to use USB to connect, you just need a driver, but is it better or slower than the standard ethernet cable (cat5)??

I had DSL before that gave me a steady speed and I am curious if Broadband is that way too. The ads say speeds with “UP TO” and I want to know if it does give you a high speed only in bursts. ~_~ Please help me. Thank you!

Hi, Iam creating a home network. Obviously for the telephone i’ll be using cheapo cat5 or something but data-wise, whats the best ethernet cable i can buy and where can i buy it? Am i correct in assuming cat7? Thanks

Why can windows systems connect to broadband so easily while other os’s like os x and linux need to contact customer service for a bunch of things. (or so I’ve heard)

Is it some sort of compatibility issues? It’s easy and automatic for XP and Vista. I tried a dual boot with Linux Mint and couldn’t connect to my dorm room connection. Most ISP’s CAN support all os’s though right?

I only have 1 internet box thing near my computer. Underneath it says its a ‘Wireless Cable Modem’. Apparently i have a modem and a wireless router, or is a ‘Wireless Cable Modem’ router and modem in 1 o.O?

I used the modem with my Broadband connection for 6 months and now it shows problem. When switched on, the three LEDs blinks (link LED yellow, Data LED green, PC/USB LED red) continuously for hours. Once I took that to BSNL Broadband office and they done something to that privately in a room and it worked well for next 3 months. I found the problem again and need a solution. What the problem is???

I’m planning on getting a wireless router and I want to know which is the best kind to get if you want to use it for internet with a zune hd. Any suggestions are okay.

So I have a gigabit eithernet switch, router, mac mini, macbook pro, and cat5e all wired together. My istat meter shows only 10-12 mbps when i send big files such as video between the devices. I also have an apple tv with 100baset hooked up to the network along with a 1000baset 1tb network storage drive.

I have a fast ethernet switch between my xbox and my computer. This hub also has a 100 ft cat6 cable plugged into the wireless router at the other end of my house. I have a local area connection established and files being shared from my computer. I usually am able to access these files from my xbox and I thought they were going directly from my computer to my xbox, but today the internet went out and all of a sudden I wasn’t able to access the files anymore. I don’t see why this should matter at all if the internet works or not. I’m not positive if the problem was with the router or the incoming internet, but I don’t want these files being transferred through that router whatsoever. I still want to have a direct line through the hub to the router for faster internet speeds (because wifi from 100 ft just isn’t acceptable), but I don’t want my LAN between my computer and my xbox to be affected by this. Any suggestions?
