I’m planning on getting xbox live, but im not entirely sure on how my connection w/ my comp and xbox will work out… so i was wondering if anyone had any advice on what type of router to get…

Hi, I have a smallish home network. Some devices are hard wired others wireless. The speed is OK, but I want it faster for the laptops. I have a linksys wireless g router and a Motorolla surfboard modem. Will swapping out one or both will make an impact on speed? advice? I am a Comcast (reluctant for ten years) broadband subscriber.

Was wondering if you needed a special type of laptop in order to receive mobile broadband from a comapny like cricket or verizon?

I would like to offer five computer stations for my customers to browse the internet. I am wired for phone but not cable. In addition I would like to offer wireless internet access for the customers. There is an area set aside for five computers, the computers and wireless connections will get constant use but with a tight budget I am unsure whether to use a terminal-to-host, file server, or clinet/server. I would like a quality set up that is only expensive as need be. I am also unsure what type of protocol and network switching device to use for 5 computers on the LAN and for wireless access. In regards to cabling, I need a media type that would be best suited for my project and unsure which telecommunications device to purchase as well as the internet type that would best suit the customer’s. I know this sounds like alot but I believe that my customer’s would love this new feature and I know that they would get alot of use.
The coffee shop seems like a pretty popular local hangout and I know that the computers would get constant use, but it would not bring me any profit except for the fact I may draw more customers that would like to check their email or access the internet. I hope to sell more coffee.

I just bought a D-Link DIR-615 Wireless Router but am having trouble getting onto the internet with my modem through an ethernet cable as it is connected via a USB cable.

What router security type affects wireless internet speed the least, but still protects your network pretty well. Im currently using Shared > WEP, and I find that it sometimes laggs or drops my connection when I play online games. Does anyone recommend a different security type?

I have Quest DSL and a Modem, I want to extend my network,,what are the fastest types of ethernet wire?

I installed cat5 wiring using RJ45 connectors at one end and Leviton Quickport Connectors at the other…

The RJ 45 plugs are wired using “Type B” wiring (Brown, Brown/White, Green, Blue/White, Blue, Green/White, Orange, Orange/White). The Quickports are wired using T568B wiring… None of them work.

Did I cross wires or should I use Type A on one end and type “B” on the other? I’ve doubled check the placement of the RJ45′s to make sure I did not hook them up backwords, it all seems good.

Any ideas?

I want to have a four system link with my friends at my house and none of us have the wireless connector for our xbox. So I’m wondering what kind, model, and brand of router I should get. P.S. I live in Ontario Canada so I need one that is available here.
