Im trying to connect my 360 to xbox live and since XBOX is all automated now, nothing is helping. My x box is connected to my laptop through a Cat5e Network Cable. My laptop is connected to my linksys router (with optimum online connection) wirelessly. I created a bridge between my local area connection and wireless network.

Still, I’m receiving network errors. I would really appreciate some help because I’ve been trying to get this to work for a couple hours now.

I tried going over coax with a modulator, that did not work. I could go over 3 Coax with RCA tips on them but I would rather not use that. I thought there was a system that could go over CAT5 cable but I have not found it yet.
The longest cable I have found is 12′ I would not like to use that many connectors.
There are wireless solutions as well, but I would like to use somethig more reliable.

the computer connected now is using a usb modem and i have a router to hook up the other one. i took cat5 ethernet wires and connected the router to the browser, then i connected the router to the other computer, but i still cant get access to the internet. do i have to change some settings on the other computer or something.
the connection is high speed cable and im trying to get it so that both computers will have internet, but someone told me i couldnt do that.

We are trying to make our home more green, whats better for the environment- Cable or ADSL?

I plugged the modem into the linksys router (internet port) and had another ethernet cord connecting to the linksys to the computer (when doing this the computer plugged in doesnt even have internet). I dont have a setup disk for the router, and the linksys setup wizard from the site doesnt seem to work.

I have to many cat5e cables for just one 2wire. I have an extra Linksys WRT54g and I would like to connect both of them together. How do I do this?

I have a ethernet cable from my wifi laptop to my xbox live console…it can’t seem to get the connection to the xbox but I have internet on my laptop. I’m running vista. My IP was set to automatic but now I’m guessing it needs to be static….but I don’t know what to use or same 1 as my laptop or netgear router?? When I put my mouse over the 2 pcs with the earth/internet it shows my netgear connection local and internet, and then the new 1 from the ethernet cable ..unidentified..as local only

I’m trying to hook up my computer & my sister’s using cat5e crossover cable. I know about IP addresses, same subnet mask, same workgroup, etc. My computer sees hers in the workgroup, but can’t access it, and pinging does nothing. Her computer doesn’t see mine in the workgroup, but pings it fine. So why would the connection work only one way & not the other?
Ran the network setup wizard, got nothin’. And we’re trying to do this without a hub… I know for a fact I should just be able to do this with just a cable, yet for some reason it’s not working.
Running XP, not vista.
I completely turned off windows firewall, and neither of us are running any alternate programs… at this point, I’m using a flash drive to take the data off, even though it’s longer, because it seems to be the only thing that’s guaranteed to work.

My old modem was a motorolla which apparently has had massive failures in the power supply. New modem is a westel. Should I reinstall the router or is there something else I need to do? Cisco Router Wireless WRT160N V2.

I’m visiting my parents for a week and brought my wireless router so I can get online with my laptop. They use the TDS ISP for DSL. The modem has one ethernet port, which I have connected to my router’s WAN port and another cable from my router to my parents’ PC. When the router is connected neither my laptop or the desktop can connect.

I’ve tried everything I can think of and searched all over the Internet. The router and modem have different IPs, I’ve put in the correct PPPoE info into my router’s settings, and nothing works. The only way to connect to the Internet is a direct connection from modem to PC. Please help me figure this out so I can get online with my laptop.

But when I connect via COM3 (the only one available), it keeps saying ‘this telephony device already in use’, when I do not have any device in use. I am trying to access my Cisco router. Anyone help???

I don’t have phone service just data for internet. so i want to use a better grade wire.

and it also asks for outgoing mail server (SMPT) name. Does anyone know where I find that information?

i have tried to set Mail up with a POP account, and i have read some sources stating that you need to pay for yahoo!POP access to set up Mail, or 3rd party, then i was reading some more about IMAP address? so I’m not really sure which one i need to use or if i need to subscribe to yahoo! help please! i want to use Mail. thnx

I’ve tried WOW, AOL, Hotmail, and Yahoo, but none of them seem right. Yahoo has this thing that I have to pay to get POP3. Any suggestions?
