it only has one ethernet port and that i have to take out to put my xbox live cord in, i dont have a router but i was told i cud run it straight up, can i get some help plz

I have tried everything to play Xbox Live with my Arris Touchstone Telephony modem. I’ve heard that you need a router for it to play online….is it true? I don’t know. Plus, I even tried testing my connection…please, help.

The router was working with the old modem. Since comcast installed the new modem (voice overIP), it stopped working. I even tried the 30 sec. restarting process.

I’m thinking about buying a Wii LAN Adapter so I can get access to the internet on my Wii. Your supposed to be able to hook it up to the Wii and then connect it to your modem using an Ethernet cord. Would my modem be compatible? I just want to make sure before I go out and buy this thing.
BTW;; Its a USB LAN Adapter. And I don’t have wireless connection.

Please help someone i herd from people that is the name of the modem well the name of it is it say on the modem>>>> Fist it says ARRIS like that then below in littel letter on the front of it, it says touchstone telephony modem well whats my SSID help please?? oh and wen i did it the first time it always said linksys but wen i clicked on it it said error i forgot the rest lol help me??

Don’t know what’s wrong, when I first got my Xbox 360 about a month ago, I could connect it to this modem perfectly fine.. I took my xbox over to a friend’s house, didn’t even connect it to the internet there. When I brought it home and tried to connect, it instantly says unable to connect to hardware. I don’t know what’s wrong, as no settings have been changed on either thing. Could it have changed settings automatically when I unplugged my 360 from the modem? The modem isn’t connected to any kind of computer, as it was before. Model of the modem is the TM402.

I have a Touchstone Telephony Modem from Bresnan, a local internet provider. Unfortunately, it has only one Ethernet port, and I`d very much like to have Xbox Live. I do have a 50ft Ethernet cord running from my Xbox 360 to my modem. If I bought a splitter, would I be able to play Xbox Live, and use the internet at the same time? Or do I have to keep on unplugging my PC cord to use my 360?

it has always been on constantly since I’ve had (last nov) could the battery be going bad?

After searching around I was able to get wired connections working through my belkin wireless G+ router by imitating the Mac address of the computer that the touchstone telephony modem was originally configured for. Now my next problem is I am unable to access the internet via wireless. I can connect to the router, I’m also able to access my router settings wirelessly as well as other computers on the network, but no luck getting the actual internet. My best guess is it may have something to do with the modem and DNS, but I don’t know what to do. Any help with this problem is greatly appreciated.
Alright, so I found out the problem wasn’t with the modem at all, but rather with the router, and involving DNS issues. It turns out that the router fails to accurately assign wireless connections the DNS it gets from the modem. I had to manually configure my TCP/IP settings to point to the modem’s DNS. So my new question, is there a way to fix this? Can I get my router to point to the correct DNS address for wireless connections?

I see that people are able to connect to their arris modems, but is there a difference between telephony and cable modems? my modem has a cable TV cable attached to it and an ethernet port, but is it possible to connect to xbox live without disrupting my cable and telephone service? also, will it be slow?

I’ve just went from a motorola comcast modem to a touchstone telephony modem to provide phone service as well as internet. The internet works when plugged directly into the modem, but when I try going through the router it doesn’t work at all. I’ve tried reinstalling the router software but couldn’t complete because it could not make a connection.

Any ideas?
