I have a linksys wireless router, 1 family PC, my laptop, my dad’s laptop, my brother’s laptop and a PS3. Is bandwidth divided equally all the time or divided by the number of connections on at the same time. If so, how can I channel all the bandwidth to one computer if I want to?

I am just wondering, can i get charged through my broadband bill when i purchase something in the internet? I think i can get charged via my telephone since it happened before when we still had dial-up. How about through broadband?

I ask especially about email password ( yahoo, hotmail…)
I use a workstation through network protected using two cisco PIX and two symantec Gateway and symantec network security

Can you transfer files from one computer to another through the ethernet cord? If not, besides copying to a disk, how can you do it?

I believe someone I know is gaining access to my computer without my consent. However I am aware that this person’s broadband connection is behind a proxy.Could this person still hack from that connection?

i have a wireless router through the phone company. it doesnt work b/c we get internet through the cable company but never got rid of the router. i want wifi but i dont wanna buy a new router is their anyway to plug the wireless router into my laptop that is wired and make the wireless router emit wifi signals for my ipod touch?

i have the BT home hub connected to the internet on one computer and want to figure a way to connect the voyager on the other computer to the home hub wirelessly.

im running windows xp, using broadband and one computer is downstairs while the other is upstairs, so wireless is my best option, also my ethernet cables are simply not long enough and i don’t even know if that would work.

any suggestions?or how can i do this?
also once thats sorted, will i be able to control and monitor the other computer from my computer, maybe even take control like remote desktop or something?don’t worry about that question too much for now though, as i have my main priority in just connecting both computers to the net at the same time.

it doesnt say how much is completed or how long left. how do i know its even doing anything? its been going for 10 minutes already.

It seems like when the Comcast and alarm guys do it, is it a piece of cake. I tried to contact them to see if they could come over to run other wires to my other rooms, and they said that they were not allowed. I want to run ethernet to my other room, and yes yes I know about wireless, but I heard about bad connections, incompatible modems, etc. I basically want to be able to play my Xbox 360 from my other bedroom.

I will purchase the ethernet plate, cat6 coupler, and 50 ft cat6 ethernet wire. I can cut the hole in the wall, I just need to know how I can get the wire to run down the wall I want into the faceplate for me to connect. Plus I have the type of insulation that looks like snow all over my attic so I will have to dig through all of that.

I have a netgear router that is the best you can buy, and also a USB connector thing that you insert to strengthen your connection. The connection reaches my room, which is two stories above the router, and it will stay connected for about seven minutes for each sign on, and then the conenction will be lost. What is the problem and what do I need to do?

Tested internet speed on speedtest.net with router and without. Cat5 goes straight to the computer from the router. With cat5 straight from modem to computer I get a 2-3mb/s increase, but if I run the cat5 from the router to the computer I get a slower speed.

Can a 2nd computer use the Internet through the 1st computer which uses the Verizon Broadband card UM175VW? A wireless router cannot be used, since the device only plugs into 1 computer directly. However, is there another way, such as running a cable from the 2nd computer to the first computer and getting Internet through that?

You said, “you can use direct pc to pc networking, and other computer can access internet.” I NEED A LINK OR MORE SPECIFIC GUIDANCE THAN YOUR BRIEF ANSWER. WOULD THAT MEAN I WOULD NEED TO RUN AN ETHERNET CABLE FROM 1 COMPUTER TO ANOTHER?

I have a 4 bedroom house that I plan on running CAT5e to each room, wall jacks, keystones, etc. and having all the cable run to a centrally located 10/100/1000 switch. I would like my home to be seamlessly wired and I can’t think of any reason why I would need to have the switch sitting on the floor behind my desk or in any room visible. I’d like to be able to have the switch hidden completely.

So with that said, is it advisable to have all the cabling go through my attic to a central spot and have the switch mounted somewhere? I could tap in to power and install an outlet up there too. My largest concern is the fact that during the summer I have a handful of days that are 100 degree outside, which I would think would have the attic at 130+ degrees (F). I could see that creating trouble for the switch and possibly causing drops or other connectivity issues. Should I just place the switch on a wall in one of the closets and wire that closet for power?

To start a carrier with cisco network professional (ccna)

I have my Xbox 360 hooked up nicely onto my network, and it’s linked up with my Windows Media Center. The problem I’m having is that I want to play the Xbox games through the Media Center (so I can use my computer 7.1 sound system). Can you play the XBOX360 through your computer with just an ethernet cable?

I don’t have a router to connect the ethernet cable to. Can i just connect the ethernet cable to the back of the computer and the 360? If so, how? Please help!

I have a wireless card that I can connect to my home wireless network and I am trying to connect my desktop (my desktop does not have a wireless card) to my laptop so that I can access the internet via Cat5 (my laptop and desktop both have a wired network card).
Some of you…please read the supplementary information I provided. I’m not looking to connect my laptop to the internet via wireless. I already have done that. I’m looking to connect my desktop to my laptop so that I can access the internet from my desktop.
Also I cannot connect directly to the wireless router from my desktop because the router is in another room of the house. I’d need a 50′ Cat5 to connect with it, if I wanted to do that.

But, the problem is my room away from more than 75 mts from his room i already connected a Cat 5e cable but is not working at all even not green light from back of the NIC adapter. in this case how can i connect to my computer, is there any device for extenting the cable over 100 mts.?

we have wireless internet from comcast for my laptop, but i cant seem to access internet access through my ps3 unless i hook up an Ethernet cable. how can i switch to get online access withough using an ethernet cable?
