Here’s the situation:

I have a modem which have 4 connections. 1 of them is connected to a wireless router and 3 others to computers. When I connect to the router, I can see the workgroup computers of others who use wireless. However, I can’t see the workgroup computers of those connected to the modem.

Any way to solve this?

I have a 20ft cat5 ethernet cable running from my cpu to the xbox….wondering how high of a resolution it will achieve on my tv.
The tv is capable of 1080p can I stream that high a resolution. through 20+ feet of ethernet cable?

I have windows 7, i have a cat6 cable, i use a 3 usb modem and i know how to do this with vistas! but with widows 7 it doesnt work. this is what i do 1) i go to network and sharing center 2) i right click on 3 modem and click properties 3) i go to sharing and hit the button that says “allow other network users to connect through this computers internet connection” 4) then i select local area connection on the drop down menu 5) i redial the connection. But it doesnt work! it says beside the local area connection ” no internet acess”

How long will it take to download the whole of Half Life 2:The Orange Box through Steam without broadband (56k dial-up connection)?

Its taken an hour just to download 1% of ONLY one of the five games. Is this normal? And I am thinking of getting broadband after Christmas – should I wait till after I have got broadband to try and start downloading the game? Help appreciated

I plugged the modem into the linksys router (internet port) and had another ethernet cord connecting to the linksys to the computer (when doing this the computer plugged in doesnt even have internet). I dont have a setup disk for the router, and the linksys setup wizard from the site doesnt seem to work.

My broadband cable connection is temporarily down. I have a PC with a wireless broadband connection. Is there a way i can hook my xbox360 to my PC so it can access this connection?

I have a desktop in my room connected to the wireless router in the living room via a wireless card in the back of the computer. how do i just plug the ethernet cable into the desktop in my room and to my 360 and get live? will that work? i dont have a router i can use anywhere close and the routers too far away. can i just plug it into my computer and play?

Im planning a big halo 3 party next weekend and i will be hooking up 4 360s with 4 tvs and a linksys wireless router. Now when I plug them all in to it will they automatically work or is there some crazy settings? Also 2 of the 360s have the usb wireless device will i be able to utilize that in the system link. Oh and do i need just regular ethernet cord or do i need all system link cords? Thanks

I have a broadband connection in my pc.
I want to access the net in my laptop through a wireless connection available in my pc.
i tried entering the proxy settings in my firefox , but i dont know the port number..and automatic settings dont work.

I have a laptop pc and a desktop pc. The laptop is wireless enabled, but the desktop isn’t. How do i use a ethernet crossover cable to share the internet connection with the desktop? I tried enabling ICS for the wireless connection, but it gave an error message about a LAN connection already using that IP address.
I can’t mess with the router settings because the routers not mine.

If I plug a USB modem into my laptop, with a subscription for mobile broadband, does that allow me to use the internet as usual on my laptop, or does it only allow surfing on the internet through mobile phones using wi-fi in the house?

I have a Netgear DG834G v4 modem/router as my main router and my modem and a aux dlink dir-655 router. I have 4 PC’s and a X360. I want to get a 50ft. ethernet cable(cat6) and put the dlink upstairs by the other pc and put my 360 upstairs(bigger tv). If I put the dlink upstairs and ran a ethernet cable downstairs to the netgear router(2 pcs would still be on it) and hooked the 3rd pc and my 360 to the dlink would it slow down my 360 being done through 2 routers? my dlink also has a usb port in the back. could I plug in a USB wifi adapter to it and connect them that way? Of course I do know that another pc on the network would mean slower internet but all I really want to know is would my 360 be any slower upstairs than on the router downstairs? also could my pc and the pc upstairs conect via homegroup if I did this?

I m a computer science student,and i want to do my final year project on the title above. That mean i need to make my computer able to watch a broadcast tv through internet connection or broadband connection, not convert the broadcast signal on tv to watch on computer screen.Is this call IPTV? I just purchased a laptop and would like to get a wireless router so I have access to the internet from my living room. However, my desktop does not have a wireless card, so I need that to remain hooked up to the modem by the ethernet cable. Is that possible?

I have an SMC Barricade SMC7904bra2 ADSL modem that has an internal Router too. I want to connect 2 PC’s to it and i want it connects automatically to the internet but i am not able to do so and instead i have made a virtual network connection in one of my PC’s and i have to connect it manually and when it is connected the other one is not able to connect to the internet. what shall i do and what the configuration should be? thanks

I have a PS2. I have a Sprint Mobile Broadband USB connection for my XP Pro laptop. I’m trying to connect the PS2 to my laptop via ethernet, then ‘merge’ or ‘bridge’ the LAN connection on my laptop to the Sprint Connection. Im not sure of the settings that I need to configure. Point-of-Interest: The Sprint connection is under the catagory ‘dial up’ in my network connections. Surely this is possible.

Whenever I play online and my brother starts downloading something on his computer, the bandwidth goes straight to him and I leg. I want to set some applications, mostly games, to get first priority on the bandwidth whenever they are used.
