I have a desktop PC with windows vista and I have an xp laptop that has a wireless broadband card, and I wanted to know how to connect my desktop to the internet through my laptop. I have an ethernet cable to connect them, but I could never establish an internet connection. Please explain to me what to do to get connected.

My macbook connects to the internet through airport to a computer in another room. i was wondering if i could use an ethernet cable from the 360 to the macbook to get xbox live. if so how?

It will hook up through a regular ethernet cable, but I want it to be able to connect through an ethernet through usb cable, I am running it through a Netgear router.

OK, so i have a comcast Arris modem and a d-link di-524 wireless router… where my Ethernet cord a post to go for my xbox live there’s already a Ethernet cord there connecting to the modem. There are Ethernet slots in the router but i dont know if i can connect them in there. Where can i connect the Ethernet cord in the modem? If so how do i do it?

I am really starting to not trust my kids and their internet activity lately. Is there a way for me to log their activity on a remote pc in the house via my linksys router? I see that it has a logging option but assume it only logs raw data. Would like to find a tool or something which would allow me to monitor their activity without installing the software on their computer (they are more computer savvy than I am).

We are looking to get a mobile broadband dongle, both have ipod Touch, when it is plugged into our laptop will the Ipod connect wireless to the dongle therefore giving us an internet connection?

I currently connect using a cable modem with wireless router. The majority of my household uses laptops and thus require the wireless option, but I use a desktop and would like to connect directly through an ethernet cable. Is this possible? Or am I stuck with the wireless connection? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Does anybody know if i can get an internet connection for my xbox 360 by using and ethernet cable in one end of the 360 and the other end in my windows XP laptop? I looked on wikipedia it said i could with a CAT5 cable… what the heck is that?

My laptop will connect when I attach an Ethernet (CAT5) cable to it but it will not work with the wireless connection. The wireless connection has worked fine before and I have never had trouble with it. The laptop connects with the network but none of the browsers or programs are able to access the Internet. Anybody know a solution or what the problem might be?

I have a westall 327 wireless dsl/router modem. My Vista PC is connected by cat5 to router, XP pc is connected via wireless. This is not as easy controlling my home network as XP was. I like Vista, so NO VISTA HATERS please.

I want to put wired internet in my room, but the only wires going up there are a phone line (cat6) and an rg6 line. The phone jack only uses 4 wires of the 6. Is there any way to hook up internet through the 2 extra wires or through the rg6? I’ve heard one needs at least 6 wires to run the internet, but idk. Also, how would i hook up 2 wires to an ethernet jack/cord?

My new apartment doesn’t have ethernet ports on the third floor. I would just use the wifi on my laptop but its a dell and when the wifi is on the sound output gets messed up. Can I just use a normal router and if so how do I set it up?
