In telecommunication, an optical time domain reflectometer’s measurement is done PC?how?
In telecommunication, an optical time domain reflectometer (OTDR) is an optoelectronic instrument used to characterize an optical fiber.
An OTDR injects a series of optical pulses into the fiber under test. It also extracts, from the same end of the fiber, light that is scattered back and reflected back from points in the fiber where the index of refraction changes. (This is equivalent to the way that an electronic TDR measures reflections caused by changes in the impedance of the cable under test.) The intensity of the return pulses is measured and integrated as a function of time, and is plotted as a function of fiber length.
An OTDR may be used for estimating the fiber’s length and overall attenuation, including splice and mated-connector losses. Is it done by our PC?how and what extra hardware
required?pl.answer me it will help me a lot

Will telecommunication be included on the Canadian NOC next year?
I want to move to Canada from the UK A.S.A.P.
I have got many years experience as a Telecom. Operations Manager, Field Engineer, Engineer and Coach.
For Example, I understand that “Operations Manager- Telecommunications” comes under NOC 0131 (Telecommunication Carriers Managers) but I do not think it has not been included in the skills shortage list for some time.
Are any of the job titles I gave above applicable under the current NOC and if not does anybody have any idea if they will be next year (2011/12)?
