I can’t get any secure pages to load, is it my modem perhaps? It’s an Old Westell Wirespeed c90 36r516 01 , and then when I dial up w/ some free isp’s, then all the secure sites load (but slowwly)! And it’s such a pain, defeats the purpose of getting dsl, I toggled Firewall in Windows Vista H.P. off, no difference, is it my settings? Dslextreme has been very supportive over the phone, but THEY don’t know what it is…(they insist it isn’t them) and keep recommending that I cmd netsh winsock reset, doesn’t help!
It’s been going on for some time (months), I’ve tolerated it, but I’m starting to lose it, aa!! Please please please help[
p.s. I don’t think it’s webroot or antivir, or my comp., it did this before with my previous machine that died recently (5 year old) and none or other anti programs, no difference

Pasu thank you, very informative. Turns out it is an obsolete modem, maybe it’s due to part of it’s built in firmware?? That can’t be changed? Anyhoo my sister finally brought over her much much newer actiontec and bingo! problem solved. Now I just need to buy a new modem for myself, and I can visit secure sites up the ying yang. Anyone w/ simple problems with an old Westell or similar turn of the millennium modem, throw it in the closet/attic/garage/basement/yard whatever and getcher self a different modem. Most tech supports are clueless. (The modem was even on their page of recommended/compatible hardware, BS!! oh well.

Somebody please help me to study telecommunication stuff…I`m really bad at them but I have to use them at my work. I want to study about networking, about the equipments which use for networking (ex: Atrica, WDM…etc) and anything connected to networking…
Can you please tell me a good website to study them ar some way..

I’m trying to be able to e-mail my movies with microsoft movie maker from my windows xp home edition HP2005 computer but I can’t because it is set on using microsoft e-mail accounts. I have tried to make the account on my control panel/ mail but I want to be able to e-mail it using yahoo. I’m very confused. Help!!!!
I can’t attach. It just won’t do it for some reason

If i’ve got a normal adsl/pstn master socket downstairs, and have a pstn port upstairs, which i’m guessing is an extension off the master, will i be able to get broadband upstairs by just plugging a adsl adaptor/filter thingy in and then taking the lead from there to the computer or would it only be on dial up?

I need to manually set the IP addresses for my xbox but I have no idea how to do any of this technical computer stuff. Can somebody give me a walk through please?

Hmm I have always wondered what the difference between cat5 cables and cat6 cables was…I just built a new computer and I am going to connect it with a cable off a switch for better connection (I have always used wireless connection have it on both my other pc and mac).

ok so i have 16 mbs per second 1 gb is about 1000 mbs so 1000 divided by 16 = 62.5 seconds so about 1 minute for me to install 1 gigabyte on 16 mbps download speed

We taped our ethernet cable down to the carpet with masking tape for a year, and now need to clean it off; however, there’s sticky residue left on the ethernet cable after we peeled off the masking tape. We’ve tried Purell, nail polish remover, and I’ve heard of using rubbing alchohol, but would anything else work?
