How to Manually Configure Your Xbox Network Settings to get a Static IP Address

Read This First!!!!! If you have ports forwarded to your Xbox you want those ports to go to the right IP address. Your router is not necessarily going to give the xbox the same IP everytime. The best way to fix your IP is through your router, but you can also configure your xbox to accomplish the same thing manually. I don’t mention this in the video but change the IP address to something outside the DHCP range. Most likely something higher than 149 so make the last number in the IP address higher than 149 that way your router will not give another device your xbox’s IP address. Make sure you go back into your router and change the ip your ports are going to, to match your new IP. For more info visit my blog about this subject. www.blogiversity.org

What wireless routers will support SBC DSL Static IP?

Ok, so I just upgraded my DSL to static IP business class in the hopes that I would be able to use my linux server downstairs as a web server without having to run a cable to it.

So here is what I know about SBC DSL. It isn’t true static IP. Apparently, the block of 8 useable addresses assigned to you are provided via some strange configuration of PPPoE.

So if you want to connect any of your systems to the internet, you can use one of the 5 “useable” addresses with most routers. Why? Because the routers usually will not support a configuration where they manage the PPPoE connection and then allow you to static route the 5 IP addresses assigned to you to computers on your internal Lan.

So..does anyone know of a wireless router which will do the following all at the same time?
1. Establish a PPPoE connection on behalf of the network.
2. Allow static routing of up to 5 additional IP addresses to internal computers. While still working as a DHCP server for other systems?
I already have a Hawking HWR54G router and when I configure my PCs and when I enable my PCs to have static IPs on the internal 192.168.1.x network and set them up with DMZ routing to the external network, they cant browse out, and nothing on the outside can ping them.

Pros and cons DHCP vs Static IP for a home wireless and wired network.?

I have a Wireless Linksys router and use some wired desktops and wireless/wired notebooks plus plan on pluggin in a Slingbox.

Is it best to set my router to enable DHCP or to set it maually?

ARP vs DHCP, if i change my ARP (my ip address to static in my local LAN), later i try to obtain a dynamic one?

(DHCP)..is there any differents? whats the use of ARP (via command prompt)? or it wil just add my ip address to the arp table?

i am using starhub maxonline. can someone tell me what is INTERNET TYPE? (DHCP) (PPPOE) (STATIC IP) (PPTP)?

(L2TP) or (TELSTRA)

Can I set my Static IP address to be exactly the same as my Default Gateway and DHCP Server?

Or are they in the same range? It’s the default IP of my router…

How Can I Change My Static IP To A Dynamic IP (DHCP)?

I have a static ip. an ip that is 192.168.1.x (any number can be X)
I wish to have a Dynamic IP, but i don’t know how to go about it.
Can anyone here please help?
I’ve spent countless hours trying to figure it out.

I have a VOIP phone on a cable modem and have been experiencing static on my phone. What could be the causes?

At times, there is absolutely no static and the call is fine. Other times the static stays for about 2 secs and repeats often. Could it be the batteries draining out? Could it be an issue with the VOIP equipment? Could it be the wireless phone interfering with something? Or could it be another reason?

How do I change my internet connection from Static IP to Dynamic (DHCP)?

I am trying to set up my Netgear wireless router and it keeps saying that it only detects a static internet connection. I called my internet provider and they said I needed dynamic or automatic. How do I change from Static to Dynamic?? Im so frusterated…its not even funny please someone help and say it so I can understand…thanks

can i setup my comp to have a static IP at home & dynamic at school w/out changing the TCPIP config each time?

so i need to have a static ip on my home network for port forwarding….so i setup the tcp/ip to do so, and it worked great.

then i got to school, and it wouldn’t connect…i realized it was the static ip, so i changed the tcp/ip config to “obtain ip address automatically”….and it works

whats lame is that in the tcp/ip config, there are radio buttons for the dynamic and static…lets say you put values in the static, then click the radio button for the dynamic, even though the static is disabled, it deletes all the values for the static.

so i get to school, disable the static…then when i get home, i have to manually re-enter the ip, mask, gateway and dns servers….this is a pain, and should not be….

is there anyway to have both these configs setup to work without manually re-entering the static info every time i get home?

can it be done with multiple profiles? i have a dell insprion E1505 laptop, which uses intel PROSet/wireless to connect to both my home and school
FYI, i have not played around with different profiles and setting, because i just have not had the time, and can’t afford to waste time fiddling around. What better way to save time then to ask an expert who has had success.

Thanks

what is DHCP, PPPoE & Static IP’s, and how do they differ?

I understand what Static and Dynamic IP’s are but I would like a little more information on how they work and how an IP can be dynamic plus DHCP, Mac addresses, gateways and PPPoE. Why and How they work individually, collectively and what they do. Thanks.

If I set my computers up for a static IP addresses, do I need DHCP on my router turned on?

I am setting up all 4 of my computers for a static IP address. Do I need DHCP on my linksys router turned on or off?

What does PPPoE mean when talking about IPaddresses, as compared to static & dynamic

Will it affect speed or how long it would take to load up my homepage & why is it cheaper than the other 2 (static & dynamic)
