BT BROADBAND SLOW SPEEDS?
Hi
As of late I have been having very slow broadband speeds. I have been connected to the test socket for the past 2 weeks and things have not improved. I have included my line states below for people to take a look at and see if there is anything showing on there that could be causing this issue? The hub is showing that there is 15mb coming down the line but when I do speed test in early afternoon the speeds have gone down to 6mb and this can also be the same in the morning, I contacted BT who ran a line test and said that there were no faults on the line and that it had been running stable for the past few weeks.
They have also asked me to plug a corded phone into the test socket I have done this and there is still a slight noise in the background but I am not sure whether this is a fault or just an indication that the line is connected?? Please advise.
They have now advised that they want to send out an engineer to check everything over but I will be charged if they find that my equipment is at fault. This will now be the 3rd engineer that they are sending out I they have already sent 2 engineers out and both have said that the line seems ok.
A few weeks ago the connection was running well at 18mb and this also showed at 18mb on bt.speedtester.com website, my IP profile use to be at 16000 but has been decreased to 12000 and the noise margins use to be 6db for both up and download.
I have also changed all the cables, tried different hubs, and replaced the micro filters.
Please can anyone advise on what the best cause of action is to take on this matter.
Many thanks,

Would a USB Gigabit Network Adapter be compatible with the Xbox 360 in giving gigabit-network speeds?
Would a USB Gigabit Network Adapter be compatible with the Xbox 360 in giving gigabit-network speeds to Xbox Live by using a cat6 or cate5 ethernet cable; even though the Xbox 360 can only support 10/100 network speeds? Or are USB network adapters only compatible with Windows-based PCs?

Best settings for optimizing utorrent speeds ?
My bandwidth measures 2048 kbps download speed (256kBps)
and 512 kbps upload speed (54 kBps). I m from Romania..My internet provider is RDS.NET (cable link)…
So what would be the best settings to reach the maximum dl speed (arround 250 kBps) like i do using Strong DC…?
I searched over the internet but some of those settings are really nasty for me..killing my download to 50 kBps… Now i’m downloading with 160kBps (180kBps maxim)….and yes… the torrents i use have many seeds and few peers..so i’m sure i can reach the maximum speed.
I set my settings to:
-15kBps upload
-0 (unlimited download)
-tcpip.sys patched to 50 connections
-i have firewall disabled, no proxy settings, all ports working
This is the best i got untill now…i tried many other upload speeds from 1 to 64 but setting it to 16 seems to allow downloading to use bandwidth pretty well….. i think the problem is elsewhere….
Thanks!
My bandwidth measures 2048 kbps download speed (256kBps)
and 512 kbps upload speed (64 kBps).
My fault
I was wondering, if you have cat 5(e) cabling through the walls and you run cat6, do get faster speeds?
I’m running cat6 cabling in a few parts of a workplace and the rest is still cat 5e. Was wondering if the speeds will vary whether you change out the local patch cables for cat6 patch cables or are you clocked at the cat5e cabling?
What company has the fastest internet speeds in washington dc?
I need to know what provider of internet is the fastest in washington dc i send files that are usually between 5 and 10 gigabytes i need internet thats very fast so it doesnt take hours to download and upload i already have dsl

What are all of the available internet speeds from slowest to fastest?
I was just wondering if anyone knows the different speeds of all internet connections starting from dial-up to the very fastest internet available, and about how fast they are. I have heard of T1, T3, etc. but I don’t know what it is. Also, please don’t forget to include satellite internet access.
Why does my ADSL connection start slow then speeds up?
When I do a speed test it starts at about 200 kbps but at the end of the test speeds up to over 1000 kbps…any idea what problem would cause that.
It’s like a car that has slow take off but eventually picks up speed…
My ADSL provide is an incompetent and I am trying to figure out what he is doing wrong.
What is the actual distribution of broadband speeds in the US?
I would like to see two distributions. One for actual download speeds, and another for actual upload speeds, for home broadband connections. I’d like to be able to look at the chart and see, say, 20% of homes have download speeds less than 800Kbs. Or less than 5% can upload at greater than 5.2 Mbs.
