We had registered TPG from Sydney, and we picked a ADSL+2 $49.99 100GB.

Is ADSL+2 are good speed?
or ADSL2, ADSL normal
okay, well we are at Victoria, and we put on our phone number, and they picked ADSL+2 no ADSL at Seaford.

Is the speed between two: 1000BASE-SX LC multimode 50/125um fiber modules
the same as between two: 1000BASE-T CAT5e modules
Assume: Gigabit ethernet protocol, length of cable/fiber is nominal (under 100 feet), all else is the same, connections are between two quality switches.

[I think I am getting hung up on LC having a separate send and receive fiber (asynchronous), so the related question is: does gigabit ethernet have a max bandwidth of ~1gb or ~2gb, or...?]

I just bought a Gigabit ethernet card for my PC and some Cat5E internet cable. I connected my NAS straight to my PC, because my router\switch is only 100mb. (My NAS is rated for Gigabit speeds (Up to 135MB/s)) But my NAS only transfers at 21 MB/s. I know my pc hard drive can handle at least 100MB/s because Ive tried and my NAS has 2 Sata hard drives so they should be fine. Any idea what I’m doing wrong?
I have my Network Attached Storage connected directly to my Gigabit ethernet card in my computer. To be honest to measure this I’m watching the Windows 7 transfer window and trying different file types of different sizes. I also have Windows feature “Remote Differential Compression” on when trying all of this. With it off I get at most 6 Megabytes per second.

I have a Sky Broadband router and a Inspiron 1525 laptop. I know that my laptop is 802.11n but I keep getting the message “the capability of your network adapter does not match the requirements of this network” anyone know how I can find out?

I have verizon fios with a connection plan that runs at download speeds of 20mbps. Is my cat 5 ethernet cable efficient enough?

If I connect two mobile broadband modems to my PC, would I get double the download speed since both of them are streaming data? Would they interfere with each other? If they share the same radio frequency, would that make them share the available bandwidth on that frequency like two computers streaming data from the same landline?

What if I have two computers and I connect them to separate mobile broadband modems. Would their combined download speed be doubled?

Thanks for the responses – it seems the limitation is in the operating systems, and not the hardware then? What about the two (unnetworked) computers with separate modems approach? If they both had 8mbit wireless modems would each of them independently be able to download with 8mbit speed, thus giving a maximum speed of 16mbit? I know it would work if it was two separate landlines but with two wireless modems I’m curious about interference.

Oh, and just for clarification I’m just curious about how these unusual setups would work in theory, I’m actually not planning to do any of this!

Hello, I have a few questions about my ethernet speed and if I’m getting the 1000MB in my 10/100/1000 ethernet switch. My first question is if Cat5e and Enhanced Cat5 are the same? I have the Enhanced Cat5 cable connecting my modem to the switch, but the switch is only reading 100M (only one light is green). I have the Cat5e (doesn’t say enhanced on it) connecting my PC to my ethernet switch. This is where my main concern comes in. Both lights are on (1000M) for the port that my computer is connected to, but only the 100M is reading in the port my modem is connected to. So do I have wrong cables? Is the modem too old for 10/100/1000?

I hope this isn’t too confusing. Basically the port the modem connects to has just 100M lit up, but the port connecting my PC has both lit up.

I just did a test on Speedtest.net and its only reading 10-13 Mbps (mega-BITS not bytes). That doesn’t seem to fast…

I am connected through vierson wireless and I have broadband and when I open up a page on the computger it is slower than the second coming and it is totally fustrating, I need some direction on how I am supposed to increase the speed. My computer is new and I believe should respond to pages in a faster mode.

Hi, I have a smallish home network. Some devices are hard wired others wireless. The speed is OK, but I want it faster for the laptops. I have a linksys wireless g router and a Motorolla surfboard modem. Will swapping out one or both will make an impact on speed? advice? I am a Comcast (reluctant for ten years) broadband subscriber.

I’m not very knowledgeable about this stuff, but I have 2 phone lines, each with ADSL internet access, if I connect them to one switch, will my LAN have the speed of the sum of both? Thanks.

i have bsnl dataone broadband 500 plan …which i got last month…the bsnl dataone broadband guys told me i wud get internet download speed of 2MBPS but my connection only gets download speed of only 30 kb per sec. what sud i do to increase my bsnl dataone broadband internet connection

Ok I have a laptop and want to know which to choose for my broadband wireless internet service? AT&T or Verizon? Which has the faster speed?
