The nice people at BT tech support say that my modem has to retrain itself up to the max speed and that this can take up to ten days. This has to be rubbish, doesn’t it? It should take a few minutes. Shouldn’t it?
Exchange upgraded today. My router reports 8mbps service with atten 11 and snr 11.2. So all should be fine. The robots at tech support are programmed to tell me to go away and play with myself for 10 days. Lots of spurious reasons given, but nothing sensible. I know I can’t do anything about it but they are misrepresenting their product if before upgrade the speed is 2Mb and afterwards it’s 2Mb.

I am trying to use my Cricket broadband modem to play my ps3 online and am unable to connect, any help would be greatly appreciated.

I can only connect to the Internet through the phone line. How can I set up my own broadband service?

How to configure your incoming mail server in WHM (POP3/IMAP) • Go to Service Configuration-Mailserver Selection. • Here, you can choose from Courier and Dovecot. Scroll down; you can completely disable the POP3/IMAP server completely by selecting the 3rd option. If you’re going to change your mailserver, you should leave the Convert Mailbox Format box checked. Click on save when done. • If you selected a different mailserver option, the mailserver should be changed by now. • Now, take a look at the Mailserver configuration. Enter the settings as required and suiting your server. Click on save when done. • Wait for the changes to save and the mailserver to restart. • The settings have been successfully changed.

My company hosts 20-30 web sites and we currently have SDSL service 768K Down/768K Up about 179/month. We can get ADSL service of 4M Down/768K Up for about 99/month with static IPs.

But I have heard with ADSL vs. SDSL there are inherent differences in the technical architecture and you cannot just think about the speeds that are quoted. Even if the speeds quoted were the same, SDSL would either be faster or more reliable than ADSL?

Any comments on ADSL vs. SDSL related to:
1) communication infrastructure (protocols, equipment, etc)
2) impact of other ‘neighborhood users’ on my speed
3) reliability
4) other

I travel in my work, and I’m sick of hotels charging $10 a night for internet access, or not having internet access, or having it, ‘but it’s broken’, etc.

I’m thinking of one of those plug-in devices that connect your Laptop to the internet via the cell phone network. But I want SPEED! what’s the fastest network out there for that? Reliability and cost is important too, but not as important as speed.

I have tv, phone, and internet through my cable company. When the cable company has problems, I have no internet or phone connection , although the tv generally continues to work.
I’m considering switching phone service to Voip and understand the computer doesn’t have to be on. I just realized, however, that I bet the cable connection itself has to be working. Right?

I would like to purchase a 2 yr contract for Verizon National Broadband access for my laptop using their USB wireless modem/card and would like to be able to make mobile phone calls using their VoIP service, Voice Wing by Verizon Wireless. Is there anything especially in terms of the consent of Verizon that would prevent my doing this?
