Which is the faster way to send data from a VB form to an MS Access database, folder sharing or sockets?

I am developing a simple application that would send data from a client computer to another computer where MS Access database resides. Both workstations or connected via VPN (not sure, though) and they are about 1500km apart. I’m currently accessing the database through a shared folder. It just occured to me to use sockets. Do you think using Winsock will do better in terms of speed? I’m not an experienced programmer. I would appreciate any help. Thank you.

what router should i have to connect wireless send and receive?

a wireless broadband omni antenna base station located near me, let’s call it “Xstation”, is providing wireless internet.
i need to connect to Xstation using pppoe.
is there any solution to connect wireless to my laptop with pppoe enabled.
i have a solution but it’s costy : i configured an access point as ap client and receive wireless internet from Xstation by pluging a UTP Rg45 cable into that Ap to a Wan port in a wireless router.setting up the pppoe in that wireless router makes me access internet wireless to my laptop.

is there any other solution, instead of buyin an AP and a wireless router?
could it be a mode(wds, bridge,…) or only a wireless router that can do this job?

C++ send a remote command?

Using winsock, I am trying to make a server that you can send a command to, and it will execute that command. For example, if you connect to it using telnet and send the letter ‘N’, the notepad will open up. Here’s some of the code:

SOCKET sock = (SOCKET)lpParam;
char szRecvBuff[1024],
szSendBuff[1024];
int ret;

while (true)
{
// Receive data
ret = recv(sock, szRecvBuff, 1024, 0);
// Check the recieved data
if (ret == 0)
break;
else if (ret == SOCKET_ERROR)
{
cout << “Recieve data failed!” << endl;
break;
}
szRecvBuff[ret] = ‘\0′;
cout << szRecvBuff << endl;
while(true)
{
if (szRecvBuff == “N”)
{
system(“START notepad.exe”);
cout << “notepad.exe started” << endl;
}
}

The received data (“N”) appears in the console window, but the message “notepad.exe started” never shows up, and the notepad doesn’t start up. What is the problem?

I use yahoo.com as an e-mail provider, so I obviously need the pop, imap, and/or http server from yahoo itself.
