I will connect 3 XBOX 360s, 4 wireless computers. I live in an apartment and there are other routers in the area. Also, my blue-ray player has wireless rear speakers. What would be the best router with the least interference and least lag when playing?

One end of my very long ethernet cable is broken and I am loathe to replace the whole length of the cable (it runs 2 floors down). Is it possible to replace just the connector?

I have no connectivity from my computer to my switch, router, or even modem. All cat5e cables I use are good. The ethernet device is enabled and it has worked until this point.

I am not so familiar with telephony but I am an IT person. I am interested in building an Asterisk phone system. What hardware would I need? which phones? This is for a small office with 8 phones and 4 lines.

I was wondering if anybody know how to remove server and replace it with regular router. I tried to pull out old server, and replace it with router, but the internet is suddenly dead. I checked the server, and apparently it was set into a static IP. How can I remove the server without taking down the internet? How can I make the router generate its own IP address? The sequence should be Internet>modem>server>router>switch>client. Thank you.

Ok so I have a linksys Wrt54g wireless router, but I msik of it and bought a new airport extreme. Im confuesed. Do I just unplug my current wireless router and then simply plug in the new one and configure it? Or what, What about the computers on my network?

our browser always give a “can’t find server” message. We called the tech support for our ISP and were told that we need to delete and replace the winsock registry files. However, we don’t have a windows 2000 CD and do not know how to do this winsock thing? How do you correctly fix the winsock files and where can we get them(or the win 2000 CD) for free?

I have an electric wheelchair that I want to turn into a nice solid robotics base! I want to reuse the motor controllers but of course they are currently controlled with a joystick… Usually they use analog pot’s in the joystick but the controller I have uses four stationary coils and one powered coil. The powered coil moves freely and induces (right word?) a voltage proportional to it’s distance from the four pickup coils… Through a series of op-amps and multiplexers it combines the “information” and sends it to the motor controller via two wires, X and Y. The voltage collected at the X and Y wires behaves just as you would expect a traditional pot. Center is about 2.56V left about .98v and right about 4.45v. So my question is, could I use two digital pots and mimic this? Thus allowing me to control the motors with a micro controller! Or is there an even better way! Sorry I don’t have any schematics for this joystick I just started probing it with my scope and a DVM… 99% sure the above description is how it works! Thanks!

I have my domain name as well as hosting with GoDaddy. They only provide POP email access and I was wondering whether it’s possible to somehow install a new incoming mail app that uses IMAP instead of POP to receive my mail. I looked at Courier-MTA but it doesn’t answer my question directly – thus I don’t know if it’s even possible.
If it is, is there a guide of some sort?

I have verizon DSL (2MB) and a westell wirespeed modem(more than 4 years old). It currently has a cat5 ethernet cable which is worn out, connection drops at random times. Does the modem have to be compatible with a certain category, or will it work with a cat5e or cat6?
