Hi,

I have never had luck with the Riser-Rated Cat5e cable that is common at Home Depot (made by General Cable).

All other cabling I’ve ever had, I’ve ignored the rules of the wire order and basically do striped/unstriped/striped/unstriped, etc….so they line up the same on both sides. –Walla! It works.

However, with this Riser Cable, I can’t get data do get through it using this method.

Questions are:

1.)WHY? Why is it this brand and style that can’t get data through it by using the same method I’ve used on dozens, if not hundreds or wires?

2.) If it has something to do with it being stiff, riser cable, and if I need to follow the “rules” of cable order, which rules should I follow?

ok my laptop is in the room with a adsl usb modem. it has a wireless card that sends internet and file sharing to my pda and other xp pcs about the house. one of these has a cat5 connection that i took to a linux pc and tried to have internet on that. it didnt work and a bridge setup cut the net off to the xp box as well.
now the linux box runs damn small linux (DSL) and previously took a feed via cat5 direct from my laptop.
the xp box it is now cat5′d to gives errors that the ip addresses clash 168.192.2.1 i think it said that sharing has to use this address and that means that i cant share the network on from a computer that takes in a share.
please, i need to know if this is possible while i waste my time with it.

I am now living in my dorm and my internet connection using the LAN cable usually works, but why now when I plug my cat5e cable to my computer it keeps on saying “aquiring network address”? What am I suppose to do with this? I cant connect to the internet??
Please help me to solve this problem… It just went like this yesterday.. I also have tried to turn off the firewall but it still wont work.

My old router had alot of problems like it would disconnect my brothers computer from diablo 2 and he would turn it off and unplug it so i had to use this router that is slow

Blanket surveillance like CCTV systems, facial recognition software, telecommunication and vehicle tracking, the DNA database etc. etc. does nothing to stop criminals, terrorists, or ‘social problems’ and it doesn’t make anybody feel any safer.

If it doens’t solve any of the problems it was brought in for, what exactly is it there for?

So i bought the SR2016 Linksys 16port 10/100/1000 switch today… well returned a broken one last week and waited for this one to arrive new…. i’m having the same problem as the last one, it just won’t pick up to it’s gigabit speed. I’ve replaced all Cat5 cables in the house with Cat5e(gigabit supported) and yet still cant get gig between 2 computers with gig cards. Before i go out buying useless Cat6 for trial-runs anyone have any ideas.

im having a problem with my 360. I got a 50 ft Cat6 ethernet chord and i use it to play online. it worked until one day, i went to plug it in and on my modem the link light doesn’t blink, when it used to blink. On my 360 it says i have a dns server problem, saying that it can’t tell what the dns server is, when im 100% sure it they’re right. i have both the primary and secondary dns on the xbox. could it be my ethernet chord or is it something else. i need help asap!

Hi there.
I have problems connecting to internet through my ZyXel router. I have a D-link modem. When I try to connect directly to internet through my modem it works fine. But when I try with my router it doesn’t take the IP address automatically.

Yes, it worked before. It worked like two houres a day then I couldn’t connect again.
Now I can’t connect even a minute a day. It should take the IP automatically (but it apperas: 0.4.0.0 and subnet: 255.255.255.255 – it shouldn’t be like this)
- Also what does CHAP3 mean, I can’t find it nowhere.
- I contacted ZyXel’s tech supporters, but they didn’t answered me. (If some1 want to buy a router, make your self a favour, don’t buy from ZyXel)

I have had my router for a while now and it has been working fine. i just discovered something wrong with it though. i tried to get on safari from my ipod touch, but it doesnt work. i went to my router’s homepage from my touch and right now the internet status says connected, but ive had this problem before because even though it says it is connected, its not. i always change my connection type to PPPoE and that usually seemed to work. now, when i change it my internet status changes to not connected and it doesnt work. my router’s lights are lit up on wireless, internet, and modem and i dont have security in it anymore. i cant do anything with the router anymore and i really need help i have no idea what else to do so please help!!!

Internet Explorer isnt wanting to work right!?!?!?!?!!?

I have wireless internet, but IE will not work correctly!!!

It has been extremely slow, and most pages come up ” internet explorer cannot display the webpage” etc.

When putting in a site address (cnn.com, etc.) sometimes search results come up saying the address cannot be found or Sometimes, I have to refresh the page more than 3 times just to sign into sites!

I have ran 3 different programs : malware, spyware, etc. (ccleaner, malwarebytes malware remover, etc. )(and I have had microsoft security essentials for over a month!) And removed 1 backdoor.bot, but that was it and the IE problems are happening on 2 different laptops –

I have reset the winsock, too, via CMD as administrator….I tried turning off my security programs and firewalls, that didn’t help…Even updated my shockwave player to 10.1, but no help…

And When I try to diagnose my internet explorer 8 problems, its says there is none…even microsoft fix it didnt find anything…

Our main desktop computer is online via a dsl box, and it works fine…But just to make sure we rebooted our dsl, and it didnt help at all!!!
The wireless internet connection strength is 5 out of 5 bars!

The pages are even starting to freeze now, and saying ‘not responding, even though the signal strength is as high as it can be!!!

What could it be?!?!!?
I tried everything but the restarting my computer….no help so far…. sigh…

Please be as specific as you can as we are deciding whether or not to do so.

Ok so i have been around the net looking for answers and caint come up one that works for me.

My problem is this my network adapter is disabled (Dell inspiron 6000)(intel pro/wireless 2200bg) i have the red x over the driver i have tried uninstalling and reinstalling but that didnt work i have also tried reseting the ip log and winsock and still nothing i reinstalled rebooted n all and still have it coming up as disabled if there is anyone out there that would be able to help me out with this problem it would be much appreciated ty so very much in advance.
it is showing that it is enabled in services and in the device manager but in network connections it shows disabled. when i hit disable (services and device manager) nothing happens; when i hit enable from (network connections) it says connection failed. btw i dont have a d:\ (CD) drive its messed up.
