-Modem Only (Disable Internet Sharing). At the moment I use PPPoA I was using PPPoE before, but my wireless router failed to connect with every other devices at home such as my Laptop, phone and wii. By the way, I’m using internet for home purposes.

I moved to Japan a week ago and am trying to connect my PS3 to the internet. I am using a wired internet where the cable modem has a username and password, and when I enter these values while doing a “manual” connection, it times out when trying to get the IP address. I know the IP address my Mac is using when I’m connected to the internet, and I’ve put this value in, but I still don’t connect to the internet. I don’t speak any Japanese, so trying to read the sheet that was given to me by my landlord is not an option. I’ve read some tutorials online mentioning DHCP hostnames, but I have no idea what this means. Thanks for your help in advance.
I didn’t bring my PS3 manual with me and I’ve spent a few hours searching google, but cannot find anything there that has resolved my issue. I wouldn’t have come here if I didn’t search the internet first… I just wanted a more personal answer to my question than the general answers I’m finding online now.

I know all the right things to put in such as IP address and DHCP and DNS stuff but it still wont work!!! I have a WEP encryption and I’m putting in the right password so I know it isn’t the password. I’ve tried EVERYTHING!!!! So any answers that work will be accepted and I will try all the suggestions everyone gives me. 20 points to the One that works succesfully! Thanks ahead of time.

i tried using my sbglobal.net email and when i enter my password and click apply, my password somehow gains 2 more characters or something,

I’m unable to connect to the internet due to above error.
I removed a third-party firewall by deleting its folder when this problem started. When i do “ipconfig”, my PPP adapter is not listed in the list of adapters.
My OS is WinXP.

On my connection info it says this

PPP on the modem (Public IP for LAN device)

I have a Siemens AT&T modem and have AT&T as a Service provider, and trying to plug it into a router.

i got an 2mbps connection , but my download speed sucks it reaches only 40kbps , but if i add some more downloads they are also downloading at 40 to 50 kbps , i want know , whats happening ? is that possible to download a single file at high speed like above 200kbps ? please help me , im not a geek , so please explain me in detail . thank you
