My only ethernet port is connected to my computer. Will I need a brand new router?

My ADSL connection speed is 512kbps & since I don’t have any network adapter (or Ethernet Port), I use USB Port for connecting my ADSL Router to my computer.
Considering my connection speed, is it worth it to get a network adapter (for Ethernet) or are they any advantages using Ethernet port? (like more download speed, bandwidth, etc.) or it just doesnt matter?

Just got a laptop and it has an ethernet port. I use wireless INTERNET so i don’t use it. I was wondering if anyone knew of any hacks or things to build to take advantage of the port.

I have a Cat5e cable running from my telephone box to an office in my backyard. I need to connect the Cat5 cable to an rj11 port so that I can plug in my DSL modem. There are four twisted pairs on Cat5e, does anyone know which of these wires should be attached to the rj11 port?
The office has no jack at all. It has the end of a Cat5e coming out of one of the walls to connect a jack (what I was calling a port) to. I know I can connect an rj45 jack (port) to this, but I have DSL with a DSL modem which plugs into an rj11 jack. I am trying to figure out which of the wires in the Cat5e cable to screw down in the rj11 jack.

My modem has 1 ethernet port which is being used to connect to my router. My xbox 360 isnt the one with the wifi. Is there some sort of ethernet splitter that would work for this?

i am taking a ccna class an i cant seem to fined how to assign a port range to a vlan. is it the same for all cisco switches and routers?

The ethernet ports on my 2600 work fine when I connect a linksys or my voip-router, but when I plug in my NIC directly to any of the ethernet or fastethernet ports on the 2600 I don’t even get link light. I tried manually setting duplex. I only have straight-through cables, do I need a cross-over cable or WHAT?????? THANKS

a siemen 4100 mainstream modem. I’m using utorrent, when I check my port using (45682) it tells me it’s not open.Is there another port # I could use. But i seems to still be downloading. Thanks for your help. Can you explain so i can understand; this is new to me……

Our church has an existing system using 5 computers networked to a UHF high speed provider. I would like to add an 8 Port Switch and more computers. May I take one of the Cat5E runs and plug it into this new 8 port switch and feed the 5 new computers without having to deal with ( don’t have the foggiest ) configuring I P addresses?
