Can someone please explain to me the difference between a DID number and an extension?
Can someone please explain to me the difference between a DID number and an extension? I was under the impression that a DID is when someone can call you directly and bypass the PBX but is it the same number as if you transferred the call to that extension?
Intermitted connection, help please?
Hello, I am currently with Time Warner Cable, and have a Belkin N Wireless Router. Connected to router is wireless desktop and Playstation 3. At random points, I lose internet connection to both devices. The router shows there is no internet connection but when I look at the Modem, it shows that there is internet and a connection. Next step, I tried hard wiring both and same problem occurred. So obviously the router is not the problem. 6 techs have come in since January. Replacing the splitters and modem, they claim that my signal is excellent and that there is nothing wrong with my connection/service. One tech specifically told me that my router does not change ip address with the modem, causing connection loss for a while. But that doesn’t explain why the same problem occurs when its hardwired. Power supply is good, I replaced the strip, and idk what else to think of. Anyone help please!!

Need help with DHCP packet tracer labs. Please!?
I am working on CCNA- accessing the WAN packet tracer lab 7.5.1. It is a DHCP lab, and I am stuck at only 69%. Any help on how to find the lab manual answers or help with DHCP would me great. thank!
Note: I’m not looking for an easy way out. Just some help, I have already finished the class. I’m studying for the CCNA exam and need some refreshing with DHCP.
Can anyone tell me which is faster 1000BASE-T or T1? Can someone please clarify?
All I know is that 1000BASE-T breaks down into 1000=speed in Mbps. Base= baseband signaling. T=uses twisted pair cable. Am i right? Now, what is the difference between 1000Base-t and T1. I also know that T1 runs at 1.544Mbps(what is the actual number without the dot?).Now which is faster???
PS. Am I in the right track? Thank you
I’ll give all points to the clarified answers.
Can someone please help me out with my organization’s IP-PBX?
An organization that I belong to has an IP-PBX, along with 3 telephones connected to it. They have 2 phone numbers going to the PBX. When the PBX was first installed, it was working okay for a few months. But after a while, callers that would call the organization would get a busy signal. Sometimes just 1 of the 2 phone numbers would have a busy signal, but most of the time, both phone numbers would be busy. But callers inside the organization are always able to dial out, whether the callers calling the organization get a busy signal, or not. We tried to fix this problem by unplugging the power cord from the PBX for about 10 seconds. When we plugged it back in, callers would not get a busy signal anymore. But after a few days, callers start getting a busy signal again, and the PBX has to be unplugged, and plugged back in again. This happens just about every week. So in other words, callers inside the organization are always able to dial out, but callers calling the organization usually get a busy signal, even when none of the telephones are off the hook. I am not sure about the PBX’s brand or model number. Can anyone please give me any ideas on what can be done to correct the problem that my organization is having? Could it be a cabling issue?
xbox live question please help?
will a ethernet cable work on a Touchstone Telephony Modem?
PBX to database ideas, please.?
I would like to setup a way that I could have someone call into a phone number, dial an extension and put in an identifying number that I could get on a database. Does anyone know of a product or a feature I could look for (possibly a certain PBX of phone switch). Just shooting in the dark as I would think this functionality exists, I just don’t know for sure. Any help would be appreciated!
Don’t have a pbx right now and so I am starting w/ a clean slate. I am a technician so I have whatever laying around and normally can figure config stuff out. I see Asterix is on sourceforge (love open source), how would I go about setting this up?
I have bought a wireless router for my laptop but cannot get it to work. Please help!?
I have virgin media internet at home and have bought a WBR-T3 54M Wireless Broadbank Router so I can get the internet on my new laptop.
I am however unable to connet the wireless router direct to my internet connection as the internet connection is screwed into the wall and attached to my modem. I need to get a connector wire that will go from my modem to the wireless router so that I can use my internet supply on the laptop.
(I gather from reading the instruction book that you would normaly just plug the wireless router straight into you internet supply.)
What wire do I need to get – someone has advised that I should get a RJ11 – Will this work!! Help would be appreciated – as you can probably tell I’m not too good with technical stuff!
Thanks
Yes it is connected with an ethernet cable. I have tried linking this from my modem to the wireless connector but it still says that there is no connection!
Thank you so much
I’m having trouble with this math problem, can someone please help!?
A freight version of Boeing’s 747 airliner has 2.7×104 cubic feet of cargo space. A CD in its jewel case has a volume of 10.8 cubic inches. Assume that each CD holds 650 megabytes of information.
(a) If you packed the aircraft with as many CDs as it could hold, how much information could you store in megabytes?
(b) A “56K” modem typically transmits information at 45 kilobits per second. In computer terminology, a kilobit is 1024 bits, and a megabyte is 1,048,576 bytes. One byte equals eight bits of information. How long would it take to transmit the amount of information contained in one 747 planeful of CDs through a modem?
(c) A T3 high-speed internet connection transmits information at 45.0 megabits per second. As with bytes and bits, one megabyte equals eight megabits of information. Assume that it takes 12 hours to load, fly and unload the 747. How many T3 connections would it take to transmit this information in 12 hours?

I need to calculate bandwidth requirements. Could someone please tell me how to do this with this info?
You have been asked to calculate the total data transfer required for the event. You have also been asked to verify that your Internet connection can support the maximum estimated concurrent listeners. You have a 45-megabits-per-second (Mbps) connection to the Internet (a T3 circuit).
Event details
Time of the event: 6:00 P.M.-8:00 P.M.
Encoding rate: 22 kilobits per second (Kbps)
Average length of play: 60 minutes

ETHERNET settings please?
I’m having broadband internet through phone line via ethernet WAN miniport (PPPoE). The internet is connecting automatically, without using my broadband connection logon, (whenever I restart my computer or connect the modem) which result that whenever I try to connect to the internet, the dialog box says “The phone line is busy”. And when I open internet explorer, the page takes forever to appear a normal web-page. Harrassing! I’m sure that the phone line and modem works just fine. The problem is with the network connections or settings probably in my view. Please help me to get out of this hell!
Wireless router help, please?
Ok, i have an SMC Barricade SMC7004AWBR.
I have 2 computers, a newer laptop running Vista and an older desktop running windows 2000.
I went to the configuration page for smc and i set up the network.
On my laptop i can log into the router wirelessly but i dont get internet, even when its close(5 feet or so) but i can use internet by plugging an ethernet cble in the router.
On the desktop nothing happens when you plug it into the router, i just thinks nothing is plugged in, if i plug it straight to the modem i can get internet though.
BTW, i have a DSL internet connection, i set the router up with the PPPoE settings but it still seems to not work.
Any help is appreciated, thanks.
