Physically extend Phone Lines?

When I first moved into my house I installed a media box to connect all of my Cat5e Network cables to a central location. The media block I bought also supports phone lines but I never bothered to connect it. Now I would like to change that and route my phone lines through the media box.

My issue is that the 10 phone lines in the house all connect to the phone company line at a point which is about 40 feet away from where the media box is. For the phone company line I am just going to run a new Cat5e line to the media box. But for the existing phone lines in the house it would be next to impossible for me to run new lines. Instead I would like to extend those lines so they run all the way to the media box.

I am trying to think about what would be the best way to do this. Ideally I would like to do this with in-line connectors but would it just be easier to attach standard phone jacks to the existing lines and use couplers? Any and all suggestions are welcome.

wire rj25 phone jack using cat5 cable?

I am working on wiring phone jack with a cat 5 cable. I connected the blue and green wires at the base. I tried to connect them to wires 3 & 4 on the RJ25 jack with out any success. Do they have to be certain order blue to 3 etc? Or where on the RJ25 connection pins do I connect?
Thanks. I used both blue and white for one line and the green for the second. I hooked the two green wires to the green and the two blue to the red at the phone base. I am going to try just one wire on each that might be my connection issue

Rewiring home phone line with cat5 cable?

I want to rewire home phone line. After researching for info, I decide to go with “Home run” method wiring or “Star topology”. 66 block 50-pair has many advantages that I do not need at this time. I just need a simple connection from wall jacks to network interface box. My questions are:
1. If I do not use the 66-block, I will make a contact points between the Red/Green terminals with corresponding wires running from individual wall jack. Is it the right connection? or do I need to use anything for contact points?
2. If I plug a phone set and dsl modem via a splitter into the testing modular jack (inside the network interface box; this will connect directly to the phone company), does it have any problems such as damage the phone or dsl modem or get a stastic noise?

Phone line to Ethernet?

We are buying a house that has Cat5e wiring throughout the house. However, there are no phone outlets in any room. Is there any way to use my current phones that have the standard phone jack plug over the Ethernet line without having to buy new phones or hooking it up to my laptop? an adapter maybe? What would I need?

Thanks

is it possible to turn a phone jack from a laptop into a ethernet port?

I’m currently trying to connect my xbox to my laptop, and my laptop to my router. But, my laptop holds one ethernet port, and a phone jack. Is there any way I can turn this into a ethernet port so I can link my laptop to my router?
so what your saying is I can put something into my usb port on my laptop, and on the other side will be a ethernet port? i’m confused.. :/
I’m trying to bridge myself host on my xbox, that is the reason behind all of this..

Can I hook up internet through the 2 extra wires in phone line?

I want to put wired internet in my room, but the only wires going up there are a phone line (cat6) and an rg6 line. The phone jack only uses 4 wires of the 6. Is there any way to hook up internet through the 2 extra wires or through the rg6? I’ve heard one needs at least 6 wires to run the internet, but idk. Also, how would i hook up 2 wires to an ethernet jack/cord?
maybe it isnt cat6, but the cable has 6 wires in it and my phone is hooked up with 4 wires. not 2

Phone wire distance limitations

What is the practical distance limit for running phone wire from the phone company’s point of entry to handsets? Our new home is almost 2000 feet from the phone box. If that’s too long for ordinary phone wire, will upgrading to direct burial Cat5e or Cat 6 help?
