100ft Cat 5e patch cables needed and because of our tight state buget problems we are currently looking at long patch cables and pulling them ourselves to save cost instead of having a contractor do the work. Are all these patch cables the same? Where’s the best place to get these?

I need to run a ethernet cable from my demarc in the garage to my laundry room (about 50 feet away) where my wiring box is in order to have ethernet access through out the pre-existing cat 5e to every room (6). I’m going to be using the cat5e wired phone jacks and change them to ethernet jack since i dont use them for that purpose. would it be better to use a patch panel or an ethernet switch to minimalize the loss of data speed?

I want to connect 2 desktops at home together and both to the internet. Wireless doesn’t work very good because there are a lot of walls between the 2. So I am planning on putting the router in somewhat of a central spot and from there I’m going to wire them together for faster network speeds.
1 cable will be ~42 feet and the other ~56 feet so I will probably get a 50′ and a 75′ cable. One of my PC’s has gigabit ethernet and the other does not. I am thinking that my network will only be as capable as my PC with the lesser ethernet(100mbps or something).

Oh yeah also my router is currently still a wireless b router.
Is it worth it to get Cat6?
If both of my PC’s had gigabit ethernet would it make a difference if my router did not have gigabit?

I have comcast cable internet…have a direct coax to the modem then a CAT5 ethernet cord to my pc? will chaging to CAT6 improve preformance?
