Cheapest way to call a mobile in the Philippines over a VOIP service?

Hi was just wondering what’s the cheapest method that anyone knows of to call a Philippines mobile number for the cheapest rate per minute?

At the moment Skype offers about 30c per minute, but I am sure there are cheaper alternatives out there. Thanks!

What’s the advantage of using T1 over the regular Verizon phone system in an office?

We have an issue of static with the Verizon system in our small office. A different line every time; can’t pinpoint when, where or why it will happen. Verizon and our PBX manufacturer just point fingers at each other, w/no solution so far.

Swapped out all of our PBX equipment a while back, so I think it’s Verizon. Someone suggested going to a T1 for the phones — we already have one for data — to circumvent Verizon. Need to know what the possible risks are. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

What is a better Wireless Router unit to use over the Vonage wireless router device?

I just switched from Vonage to Ooma. I have a wireless modem from Clear Communication in my set up. I have two laptops and a desk top. The Vonage unit is not dependable. I have to constantly re-boot it. I need to find a dependable wireless router that will also allow me to plug my Ooma VoIP in it instead of the phone jack.

How do i access my file server over FTP???

I have set up a file server in XUbuntu as shown in this tutorial, including the FTP package:

http://www.bit-tech.net/bits/2007/06/05/build_your_own_server/5

I was wondering how to connect to this from a remote location.
I have installed “SmartFTP” and was able to connect with a computer on my home network using the Local IP (192.168….)

what do i have to do to access this remotely? Is there a different IP???

NOTE: I have a PPPoE DSL connection from Yahoo (Dynamic IP, not static)

File Sharing Over a Network Difficulties?

Ok, first off here is my network setup.

Internet:

I receive my connection from a modem from my ISP, and i have a Linksys WRT120N Connected to my cable modem. The router is always connected, the password for the PPPoE and stuff is configured in the router.

Desktop 1:

Desktop 1 is my main, it is connected directly into my router and it receives internet connection directly from one of the ports in the router. It is always connected as long as the router is connected through a WAN type connection on the Desktop.
The connections it has in the Network Connections folder is the old, disconnected PPPoE connection i used to use before i got my router, and a WAN connection to the router.

Desktop 2:

Desktop 2 is in my room and it uses a wireless PCI card to connect. It connects to the router with a wireless connection and i have no problems with it.
The connections it has in the Network Connections folder is an Internet Gateway (not entirely sure what this is or does at all), disconnected LAN, and a Wireless Connection to the Router which it uses to access the web.

Situation:

Now, today i wanted to make some shared folders on my computers so i could copy files from computer to computer with out using a flash drive. I used the “Set up home network wizard” on both systems with the same Workgroup name. BUT, i can only access a shared folder thats ON Computer 1 FROM Computer 2. Computer 1 wont even show any other folders other than its own in “My Network Places”. but Computer 2 will show everything.

Id like to be able to access files on Computer 2 from Computer 1 and not just the other way around, but i cant seem to figure it out, my only thought is that since Comp1 is connected directly into the Router it cant access the wireless connections through it, or something like that.

I’m a rookie IT Specialist who is trying to learn Networking and i appreciate any help possible.

Thanks
Oh and I am on Windows XP Home on both systems.

Also, any tips on how to delete the network data i made and just start all over from scratch might end up being my only solution.

Browser can’t connect over wireless network but pings work?

Out of the blue, my browsers (IE & Firefox) stopped being able to connect to the internet, but my IM client works fine. The last time it worked, i updated my iPod Shuffle. It seemed to download fine. The next day I noticed this issue. I am running IE7 and the latest FF over a wirless lan, no network changes have been made.

I have done the following:
browser cache flush
resolver cache flush
ping ip address (yahoo, cnn, etc)
nslookups resolve domains (cnn.com, yahoo.com etc)
performed winsock reset

Any suggestions or similar experiences?
Good point about the ip address. I failed to mention that my desktop and another laptopp are working fine.

About V.O.I.P? Voice Over Internet Protocol?

Sometimes when I phone certain numbers (always the ones on our timeplan that would be free), they come up unobtainable repeatedly – today they all seemed to clear themselves and now I can phone them again, whereas on the PSTN network I never have problem with them – is this due to congestion?

I’ve heard, particularly with British Telecom, that because their network from the exchange to the subscriber is still using the copper wire loop if is reaching saturation – is this true & what is causing this ‘unobtainable’ business?

Or is it due to something else? I’ve been told by BT that it is an ‘lntermittant’ problem, well all I can say is, it stretched the definition of the word ‘intermittant’ along way as the numbers concerned stayed out of order for several days and then just started working again without warning, but the internet side of things on the computer there’s no problem.

Is BT not telling me something – I’m suspicious this is a capacity problem on the network – is it?
Is anyone else experiencing this type of problem – indeed are any of you over there on the Kindergarten Continent experience this kind of deficiency with your networks?

I just feel the lntegrity of modern computers systems is being compromised with this ever obsessive need to update until you’ve got something reliable to update to.

Instead of BT curing the problem – they’ve sent me another system to handle the VOIP calls – I’m not particularly optimistic that this solution will be successfull, indeed these expedient rebooting of systems to cure errors I feel is like changing a fuse in a plug that keeps going – you’re not finding out the root cause of the problem just putting on a temporary ‘patch’ fix on it to deal with short term to make the problem go away – that’s what the computer world calls these updates to various software packages isn’t it’ – a PATCH – Internet Explorer 7 must look like a patcwork quilt!!!
I know before you tell me – full of spelling and grammatical errors – patchwork quilt – look I did the last one – wish they woud make the spellchecker on here ‘realtime’ and put a grammar check in aswell!
Oh dear another woud – should be would ok – now can you answer this most annoying question please?

why use cat5e over say cat6 or 7?

i’m doing this networking assignment, but i just don’t understand the difference between these cables.
a link to a basic outline would be pretty good too

Wifi over PPPoe and Iphone?

Alright so at home i have my wireless router, but the only way to connect to the internet through wifi is by using PPPoE. Now this isnt a big deal because on my computer, xbox 360 and psp it has the option to connect using PPPoE. But now when i got my iPhone there is no option for PPPoE. Ive researched and most answers are to get a new router and i dont have the time or money to waste doing all of that. So does anybody have a solution for this?
