I am on my college’s network and want to make changes to my apartments router (on the same network) but do not know how.

What I am trying to do is change a forwarded port to my desktop.

There’s a device I’d like to hook up to my router, but it’s maybe 10 feet short. So, I wondered if I could extend it somehow, since I’ve heard of extenders/repeaters.

I did some google searches, and the best I found were these:

One solution costs about $1, the other costs 60x that. There’s the phrase “You get what you pay for”, so I’m reluctant on the $1 fix. Any idea what the differences between the two are, and if the $1 one would really do the job?

If neither of these solutions are ideal, is there any other thing I could buy that would do the trick? I know how to “make” ethernet cables, but I’d prefer not to. Thanks for your time.

I currently live in Stevens Point, WI and I currently have charter for my internet. I love how fast it is. I am now moving to a different part of Stevens Point, WI and charter is not available there. Question says it all… I am starting a small business where I must network 24 computers together… I have a couple of options on the table, but I would like to see if anyone has any ideas.
1. They must all be networked in one network
2. The connection must be fast (not fast for internet, just for the network)
3. All 24 computers must be able to be on the network simultaneously (this is a must)

I am using Cat6 unshielded wiring (thanks to location and business type, shielded is not a necessity). Performance is key issue, so all suggestions are greatly appreciated.
