Home Network and Server

This video shows my home network switch, my home server, and a client computer. You are going to ask me where is the damn server, and I am going to say that it is on the roof. Yes, it is true. It is there because of noise and security… and because I do not have space inside the house. The server is running Windows 2003 Enterprise, x64. It is a Core 2 Duo E8400, 4GB of DDR2 RAM, 4x 500 GB SataII 10K HDDs, Gigabit Connection… It provides the following services: DNS Server DHCP Server WINS Server Domain Controller (AD) Torrent Server File/Storage Server GeoVision Security Server Backup Server 2x Websites (Torrent and GeoVision) Printing Server As you can see, it is my house`s heart. Therefore, all the network and server runs 24/7 and has a 3 hours No-Break for power failures. Average Daily CPU Usage: 41% Average Nightly CPU Usage: 36% Current Uptime: 186 Days It is running since August 2009, and so far it had crashed just one time… Moreover, the switch has 2x Gigabit Connection Ports, witch are connected to the server and the Wireless antenna. All other ports are regular 100MB/s connections. There is about 6 desktops and 3 laptops, witch are connected to the network, accessing files and camera recordings, downloading, surfing the web and stuff like that. Besides that, I aways access my cameras when I am traveling. Hope you enjoy it!

Linksys Network Router Internet Access Policy Setup

Setting up Linksys router WRT-54G internet access policy. This is an example of “off early” on school nights for my kids: deny days: Sunday through Thursday deny from 10:30pm to 11:55pm deny from 00:05am to 6:00am (don’t use 00:00am) (there is a period there from 11:56pm to 12:04am where the internet comes back on but they are not aware of this and it doesn’t matter because they are asleep anyway) So per the example above, the computer will be denied internet on each school night (Sun. to Thur.) from 10:30pm until 6am the next morning. Make sure to “Edit List of PC’s” You have to make sure you get the right IP address of the computer you want to deny or you can just use the MAC address instead. You can learn how to find the MAC address of the computer by going here: www.wikihow.com IMPORTANT: Go to the Linksys administration page by typing 192.168.1.1 and If the DHCP is enabled on the Basic Setup page then use the Mac address of the computer you are trying to deny instead of using the IP address because the IP address will change frequently. Enter the Mac address in the “Edit List of PC’s” section. You can also control more than one PC by entering the Mac address for each computer you want to control access to.

Backtrack Series – 7: Cracking AP-less WEP Protected Network Using Hirte Attack

This attack targets the client by making an access point with the same attributes as the one which is stored in the WIFI settings of the OS Note that I had to keep on disconnecting the fake AP in order to force the client in to rejoining the network as the packet flow stops if I don’t do that This happens even if the firewall is disabled on the client Perhaps setting up a DHCP server can solve this problem This will be tested in the future For more information, please check the following link: www.aircrack-ng.org

Updated Server Room & network DSL connection

In case you did not see my previous server room video here is an update to the old video: www.youtube.com In this update video you will see that we moved part of our server infrastructure around in the server room, as we are planning to move this equipment within the next 60 days to a new server room with better air conditioning and better power conditioning. This old server room is very noisy and gets very hot and does not have space to grow, The new server room alone is costing $50000 for the air conditioning and power configuration alone. Our DSL line is a 10 Mb high-speed internet connection, We have 12 servers, of which you only see 8 servers here. The other servers are in other locations due to lack of space. There are 3 Mac servers, and the other 9 are Dell brand running Windows 2003 servers. They run specialized functions such as providing DNS, DHCP, print server, file server, mail server, data-backup, data base server, Mac Services, web server, ad/domain controller & ad backup, restore images. In addition, we are installing a wireless controller and new WAP access points to cover 6 floors and gigabyte network switches, with a total cost of over $150000 so it is not cheap. And that does not include the additional new dual cpu MACS that we are acquiring for the new library and new computer labs. see: www.youtube.com I will do an update to show the imaging of the new iMacs with 20″ display monitors, they are NICE and very fast!! see reimaging the hard drive on 200
