I have a Big Pond Broadband contract for the 24 months. I’ve been having the net with them for 16 months now and I have another 8 months, how much would it cost to cancel the internet? I’m thinking to switch from Big Pond to Iprimus they have much better deals for a lower price not like Big Pond, I have 25 GB for $60 per month with ADSL1 thanks. Okay, so I have a 50 dollar budget. My goal is to make a 120-135 foot cat6 cable drop. I cannot afford to get everything to wire the entire house.

I’ve always heard that buying a premade cable and cutting the heads off then punching it down will drastically affect performance. Is this true? ( Let’s say from the theoretical max of 125MB/s, what would it reduce it to? )

How much performance am I going to lose by using stranded cable instead of solid? ( Again, from 125MB/s theoretical )

My network performance is on average 40 megabytes/sec ( Not megabits, in megabits it’s 320MBPS ) between slower systems, and 60 megabytes/sec between faster systems. This was taken by using aida32, etc. Can I expect a cable drop like I described to be about the same speed?

If not, how much more am I going to get by buying solid core cat6 in bulk and running that?

I do have my own tools to wire the house, I just don’t have the jacks ( getting cat6 of course ) and wallplates. I regularly make my own patch cables.

Also, should I get toolless keystone jacks? I have a punchdown tool but have no clue how to use it.

Actually i am using ptcl broadband in pakistan and cuz of disruption about ten days earlier very disturbed. I am thinking to switch to wateen wireless internet so just want to know how much it is authentic to use the wireless broadband.

I was asked to run ethernet cat5e cables at a local business. and I don’t know how much should I charged the person? Should I charge $50 per cable drop or not? What do you think? Lets say it’s a 75 to 150 FT cable drop. is $50 too much or not enough? how about $75 I already have my connectors and 1000ft bulk cables.. (XD)
