Can a Siemens Speedstream 4200 Broadband Modem “Windstream” be used as a wireless router for a laptop in my house?

I have a desktop with XP and a laptop with Vista. I use Verizon broadband with a USB720 modem . Is there anyway to network?

My desktop is connected to my cable high speed modem. My router needs to be plugged into the modem where the the modem is connected to the computer. Now where do I plug in my router?

I have a broadband connection thru a cable line and need to know if this means I have a dsl modem. This is b/c I am installing a printer which would need a dsl filter if I have a dsl connection.

I just got an Xbox 360 and need to connect it to the internet. Instead of getting a 50′ CAT5e network cable I thought about connecting an additional modem in the living room since we have several old ones laying around. Since each individual modem has separate IP addresses, would I get charged extra for it with AT&T?
Also, do I need a computer at the modem for it to work? The modem would only be connected to the 360 in the living room.

I have 4 ports in the back of the modem. I have one cat5 cable to one computer and that works. But when i connect a second cat5 cable from a second port to the second computer the device on that computer says the cable is not connected or is unplugged ( it’s not! ).

I want to know if it will give me more speed if I buy a router for my ISP’s modem. Will it give me more speed?

I have D-Link ADSL Modem and works fine for more than two months, suddenly i cannot connect to the internet, i checked the modem status there upstream and downstream kbps is ok.
ISP settings remains the same, my subscription is not yet expired, then even i reset the modem many times, I still have no connection…

Anybody here can help this problem??

I’m getting cable at my house and they are giving me a self install kit that my boyfriend is going to hook up but I want wireless for my laptop. What is the difference between a Wireless Cable Modem and a Wireless Router? Can a router be plugged into a router or does a router have to be plugged into a modem or vice versa? What kind of equipment comes with a self install kit? a modem or router?

i have a Zoom ADSL X6 wireless modem/router i used with my at&t dsl. i switched to cable recently and tried using the ethernet connection in one of the free ports in the zoom modem to the plain ole motorola cable modem and tried to access the wireless connection, and it connects but my access is limited to ‘local only’ now. do I need a new wless router to go with my new cable modem?

i have an old computer with XP, i use an ADSL modem. Antivirus is ZoneAlarm. It simply refuses to connect, the modem is OK, I tried it on a laptop and it connects well. I tried safe mode, reinstalled the ZoneAlarm, tried to use AVG free edition, no result.
