I have a DSL Internet connection, which works fine. However, when I turn on my computer, I get also a dial-up connection box that reads >select the service you want to connect to< . When I click on the >cancel< button for this message, another box appears that reads >Connecting to Broadband Connection 2. Connecting to WAN miniport (PPPOE)< . Clicking on >cancel< yet again for this second box brings up a third box that reads >Cannot Connect to Broadband Connection 2. Error 815<.

Does anyone know how I can get rid of the annoying connection-box messages?

I keep getting a windows error message or something everytime I click on something. It says that a Digital Line has been detected (PBX) and verify that my phone line is connected, however I’m using wireless Intenet. Please help its real annoying. If it helps at all im using PC, Dell Latitude Laptop, with Windows XP

I am using my library’s computer to post this message.
My browser’s do not work.
I also get a message from Foxfire browser that the connection has been interrupted.
I have scanned for adware and viruses and seem to be clean.
One thing is that on my home computer I can bring up Yahoo but when I try to log on to my account it returns with a blank screen.
I can browse some websites but when the web page has to post some information from the screen it seems that it never gets back to the web hosting site and the server times out.

I have also tried HijackThis and the entries there do not seem strange.
Is it something to do with Winsock?
I have ordered a DSL modem from the phone company but would like to make sure my computer O/S is good before I install it.
Any suggestions?

We have a Definity/PBX switch with phone line input into an amplifier to make PA annoucements. We would like to be able to call in remotely and make messages through the PA system. Is it possible to install a device that could allow this to happen?

No matter what i do, this message continues to pop up and ask the same thing, it has detected a change to system that SVCHOST.EXE is attempting to delete Tcpip and right after, the same thing only it’s netbt. No matter what i select block or except, it still comes back and i have the full amount of protection so i would not suspect an unwanted program.How can i resolve this

I’ve tried setting up yahoo and Apple Mail via the mac mail button but I can’t seem to setup any email on my iphone no matter what I do. When I setup the mac mail(mobileme) I get the error that username or password is not correct.

after my computer restarted i got a message saying New Hardware Found, that windows needs to install the sncilliary function driver for winsock. I didn’t install any new hardware/software onto my computer at all. an after recieving this message i tried to connect to the internet. I have a laptop running vista an connect wirelessly, an in the notification bar it said connection: unknown the dependency service or group failed to start. I tried a few things, i tried to restore the computer to before this happened, unsuccessful. I went into command an ran sfc/scannow an it didnt find any errors. I also went into command an restored winsock an still nothing has changed. keep in mind the computer worked perfectly fine until it shut down an came back on with this message indicating thaT new hardware had been found…any solutions or even explanations to why this happened an what i gotta do to fix it

i have a problem with activex license, when i want to use Microsoft WinSock Control, Version 6.0 tools in vb.net, the error message will display “you do not have a license to use this activex control”, what is the best thing should i do to solve this problem….

I have recently purchased a copy of “My Kazaa Gold” and it was working perfectly up until yesterday evening. I am now getting an error message that says:

Network Error:
No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it.

normally when i try to open a website, the browser shows it cant open the page and when i run the diagnostic tool it shows a msg which says that the WINSOCK CATALOG error.

How to create a pop up message/greeting when accessing your wireless network. Put something like “Thank you for stealing my Wi-Fi” or “You have been infected with an unknown virus!” Tested on my Airport Express

Every time I click to enter a website the following two messages appear in order:

Message 1:
“Connecting Verizon Online DSL
Connecting through WAN Miniport (PPPOE)”

If I just let it connect, a second error message follows:

Message 2:
“Error Connecting to Verizon Online…
Connecting through WAN Miniport (PPPOE)
Error 678: The remote computer did not respond…”

Then it gives me 60 Seconds to Redial and after that, the same error message displays.

If I just click Cancel for both messages, it will let me load the page I’m trying to get into. But it’s very annoying having to do that every time.

I don’t have viruses or things like that I think because I have scanned with AVG, NOD32, Spybot, Spy Sweeper.

I have a router and a modem. As I understand it from reading a little bit online, it could potentially be the modem. Any ideas?
NEVER MIND….I FIGURED OUT HOW TO DO IT!!!!

1. Click CONTROL PANEL
2. Click NETWORK AND INTERNET CONNECTIONS icon
3. Click the first option SET UP OR CHANGE YOUR INTERNET CONNECTION
4. Click the CONNECTIONS tab on this new window that pops up with the title “Internet Properties”
5. Tick the circle that reads NEVER DIAL A CONNECTION
6. Click APPLY
7. Click OK

And you are done!!!
