Need help with making ethernet cable (TIA/EIA 568B)?

I wasted 6 8CPC (rj-45) jacks already. I know I am doing it right. White orange, orange, white green, blue, white blue, green, white brown, brown. And I am placing it correctly in the jack from left to right (facing it from the bottom of the jack). But it doesn’t work! I don’t have a cable tester because I don’t see the point just to tell you that your SOL since you still have to start all over again if one copper string didn’t make the cut.

But Im thinking in the back of my head now, “is it a 568A?” But on the cable it says 568 CAT5E. And isn’t CAT5E consider an 568B? So, I think I have everything right so far.

Do you think its because when i take off the jacket i could have accidently cut one of the copper wires on accident, like one small microscopic scratch?

Also, i found all this cable in a dumpster behind a school. Do you think they probably ran the whole left-over cable with some destruct mechanism so no one else is able to use the cable?

Thanks for your help.

making a network cable….?

I was trying to learn how to make a network cable but was told that there is 3 different way to layout wires straight-thru 568A, straight-thru 568B, and crossover. What are each ones different? what they do?

Another question: what is the different between cat5,cat5e, and cat6. What do each do and their difference?

Making CAT5e cable but it’s not working. Why?

I added a couple of CAT5 hubs in my house and wired them using the -B configuration and made my own cable using the same -B configuration. They are not working. Why?

Making 1:16 multiplexer using a 1:2 multi and 2 1:8 multis?

Hi. I am trying to figure out how to make a 1:16 multiplexer for a 1:2 multi and 2 1:8s. I understand we have 2 data lines and a selector, but I can’t figure out for the life of me how to tie them together. Any help is appreciated.
Wait, wouldn’t i just set up the to 8×1′s and have their outputs as incoming data lines into the 2×1?

learning game developing by making a mud?

Im gonna become good at c++ and networking and scripting beore I move onto making graphical games. I been reading som tutorials on winsock but its so damn complicated.. im slowly getting hang of it though. but I wonder still how do i implement it into the game later..

I dont want to start programming my game before I know for sure, Do i have to design the code a certain way to implement the networking later?
Do you use winsock code almost everywhere in the source for everything possible (eating, attacking, moving) because then I shouldnt really start programming the game before I gotten the hang of winsock?

Can anyone recommend a really good router table for making raised panels?

I’m making rail & stile raised panel doors, and have been using a home-made router table. The router table’s parts don’t fit together with the precision that I think is required for doing this kind of work (although I am admittedly quite inexperienced…some of the problems might not be due to the router table ), and I’m wondering if I could & should buy a really good router table (for a reasonable price, of course), or if it makes more sense to try to modify or re-make my home-made router table.

making use of both a Virgin Media (Cable) and BT (ADSL) broadband connection at the same time?

I have a Virgin Media cable connection that has been providing a broadband connection to my home network of 6 PCs. I have recently added a BT ADSL connection that also could provide the broadband connection via a BT Home Hub. I would like to use both WAN connections and load balance them.
A number of designs have been proposed, but all require either detailed configuration of the routing tables (under Windows XP) on each PC or configuration of teh tables on each of the routers (Belkin and Home Hub).
A dual WAN router has also been suggested. It is not clear to me how this would be configured. Do I take a LAN connection of the Belkin router to the WAN port on the Dual Wan router? Will this also work with the Home Hub? I don’t want to use the WiFi capabilities available on each of the existing routers.
Correction … I don’t want to LOOSE the WiFi capabilities of each of the existing routers.
