I made a 75 foot CAT5 cable with a generic ends and an RJ45 crimping tool. I used a cable tester that verified all 8 wires are aligned, but it doesn’t work. I removed all other variables. I tried making 3 and 5 foot cables and they both work. What could the problem be?

Several days ago I uninstalled Zone Alarm using Windows Add/Remove programs. Shortly afterward I began to have an odd problem. I could get email, I could sign on to AOL IM but I couldn’t “surf” (I use IE but also tried on Netscape and no go). I have a Comcast cable modem that’s been working just fine up until recently. I called Comcast and they eventually sent someone out. Well, he made it worse! He went on my computer to the Windows Set-up and kept trying to reinstall something. He said something about Winsock 1 and 2 and kept mumbling that it had been a long time since he worked on Win 98. I have Win ME Einstein! By the time he was done I couldn’t even use my email or IM anymore. He said the only thing I could do is back up my files and use my Compaq recovery disk to reinstall whatever I’ve lost! What the hell? I’m now at work so I’m going to try to pick the brains of you all out there and see if there’s anything else I can do.
After the bozo from Comcast left I did reinstall Zone Alarm but that didn’t help. I think he might have deleted something I needed when he was screwing around.

Users can execute their programs backwards —step over, step into, step out of, instruction step, resume—, hit breakpoints in reverse, and even jump to any time in the past with a single mouse-click. Everything is accurately recreated, including stack frame, variables, memory contents, etc. that were in effect at that time. The only functionality that is compromised is the ability to change values of variables, memory or registers while in the past, since this may alter the program’s flow of execution (you can’t go back in time & kill your grandfather without affecting your present).
