Ok, here are all the details i can imagine would be relevant.

I have the Linksys WRT54GS wireless router set up with the CAT5 network cable going to the “internet” port from my DSL modem. I have another length of CAT5 going from the “1″ port to the ethernet port on my desktop computer. I am running Windows Vista Ultimate. I can get into my router configuration and set up my wireless network. When I do this, my laptop sees the network, gets an IP address and connects to the wireless network but I have no internet connectivity for either my desktop or my laptop. I know they are on the same network because I can use the remote desktop feature on my laptop to log in to my desktop (the whole reason i started this project). Unfortunately it isnt doing me any good because I cant connect to the internet. When run the cable directly from the modem to the ethernet port on the desktop (eliminating the router completely) it works just fine, evidenced by the fact i’m able to post this. Help!

I am using DSL and I would like to know why my ethernet bridge is not working right while the router and wireless laptop card is? The bridge I am using is connected to a pc. The other one is on the router.

I have a Linksys Wireless-G 2.4 GHz Broadband router that my family doesn’t need anymore since we have AT&T wifi. I have a windows desktop in the basement and wondered if I could use the Linksys router to connect my PC to our wifi. Any help?

I am really starting to not trust my kids and their internet activity lately. Is there a way for me to log their activity on a remote pc in the house via my linksys router? I see that it has a logging option but assume it only logs raw data. Would like to find a tool or something which would allow me to monitor their activity without installing the software on their computer (they are more computer savvy than I am).

Any suggestions would be appreciated!

We tried to connect to the internet but the router doesn’t connect but the modem connects to the internet with no problem.

Hi, I presently have a home network set up with my Linksys 300N acting as the router for all my wired and wireless connections. I am doing major construction on my house and want to run wired cat5 or 6 to each bedroom and to my home theatre setup and to all my kids game consoles. This means I will need many wired networked connections (I will guess about 15-20) along with keeping the wireless ability for my laptop, etc. What type of unit will I need to accomplish this and how does it hook up to my existing router please? My exisiting router is directly hooked up to my cable modem from Cablevision.

we are a small business and every now and then, the internet connection goes down for some reason, i wonder if i have a wiresless moden with usb, i can somehow connect to the router or to a pc that has a router and get the internet connection on another machine that is connected with a cat5 cable to the router. Will it work ?

I have an Xbox 360 downstairs, and the ethernet cord they give you in the box is not long enough so i have purchased a longer one. I’m wondering if I can directly hook it into my linksys router by my computer. Or, does this need to be plugged into a wall ethernet cord. Because when I did this before (into the router) I could not connect do to a problem with the MTU.

It stopped recognizing it after I disabled my local area connection for a second (because I was testing something) but when I re-enabled it my computer wouldn’t recognize the router not even after I tried to do the installation with the disc that it came with.

My ADSL Modem is from a company called Xavi (taiwanese) – Model no X7721r

I plugged the modem into the linksys router (internet port) and had another ethernet cord connecting to the linksys to the computer (when doing this the computer plugged in doesnt even have internet). I dont have a setup disk for the router, and the linksys setup wizard from the site doesnt seem to work.

I’m replacing a 2wire router and a 2wire modem(?) that splits the phone jack to the phone, and to the router.

I just bought a linksys WRT54GS router, but I don’t have anything to go from the phone jack to the cat5 internet port on the linksys router. Do I need some kind of converter/splitter to go from the jack to an ethernet cable, or a linksys modem or something?

It’s a 7-year old router. The wireless portion cuts-out about every 30 minutes or so. I’ve checked the settings (it’s set for a 2-day client, aka set to zero) but lately I’ll lose connectivity with all my wireless devices and have to recycle power.

I believe I’ve checked all the settings at 192.168.1.1 and have them correct, and I have tried different channels for interference issues. Directly plugging the Cat6 cable in directly causes no problems or dropouts.

Is my router too old? Is this a common dying router issue?

When my cable modem is directly connected to my computer via Ethernet cable, the connection is flawless. The problem is using the internet wirelessly for my laptop. I no longer have a cd-rom drive to install the cd, is there any way to still use this router?

I’m not sure what my internet source is but when I finally connected my Touch to the router I couldn’t get the router connected to the internet. Does this mean I already have wireless internet or do I need a network adapter?

I am trying to set up my home network. I have a desktop that I was going to keep wired and then my notebook has an integrated 802.11g card. To accommodate both wired and wireless connections, I purchased a Linksys WRT54G router. I have plugged in my broadband cable line from my high speed modem into the router, but when I plug in my CAT5e cable from the router’s built in 4 port switch, my desktop and notebook both acknowledge they are connected to a LAN but there is little or no connectivity. I cannot access the internet or transfer files between computers. I have misplaced the setup CD but I am aware that it is not required to setup the router, as you can access the router settings by its default IP address of 192.168.1.1, but I get nothing when I type that in my address bar. I have tried resetting the router by holding down the button on the back, but it still doesnt work. I have tried downloading the firmware from the Linksys website but I do not have a program to run .BIN files.

I reset the router and I’ve set up a wireless connection ( I think ). I need some help on how I can get my ethernet connected computer to get on the internet. I also need help on making a wireless connection.
