Ok, here are all the details i can imagine would be relevant.

I have the Linksys WRT54GS wireless router set up with the CAT5 network cable going to the “internet” port from my DSL modem. I have another length of CAT5 going from the “1″ port to the ethernet port on my desktop computer. I am running Windows Vista Ultimate. I can get into my router configuration and set up my wireless network. When I do this, my laptop sees the network, gets an IP address and connects to the wireless network but I have no internet connectivity for either my desktop or my laptop. I know they are on the same network because I can use the remote desktop feature on my laptop to log in to my desktop (the whole reason i started this project). Unfortunately it isnt doing me any good because I cant connect to the internet. When run the cable directly from the modem to the ethernet port on the desktop (eliminating the router completely) it works just fine, evidenced by the fact i’m able to post this. Help!

I am asking a very abstract question. So, I hope you wouldn’t mind.

Is there a direct connection between computer technology and telecommunications technology?

For example, is there a link between topics concerning networking, tcp/ip, domain conrollers, etc and topics relating to telecommunications, GPRS, telephones, cell phones etc?

Or are they just 2 different issues brought to work together?

I hope you know what I am asking. Thanks.
Likewise, is the Internet a computer network being made to work on telephone network?

also, would using a router instead of connecting directly be a slower connection/transfer rate?

if you connect a Cisco 2950 router and a Allied AT-MC115XL media converter should there be a link light on the switch even if there is an issue with the fiber? i am using a cat5e patch cable about 5ft long. my experience says that the link should be there no mater if there will be traffic from the other switch/pc. it shouldn’t matter as long as ther converter has power and the switch port is open, right? i think the converter is bad. please supply urls! BTW i am not a neewbie and have tried most everything!

Features * Wi-Fi certified * Wi-Fi WPS (Wi-Fi Protection Setup) Certified * Works With Windows Vista Certified * XBOX! Live Certified A slew of innovative features that make this wireless router stand out amongst the crowd are’free Tomyzone hotspot’, solid security and easy installation. The hotspot feature lets you earn money by making a public SSID that can be used by WiFi users in a particular area. It’s restricted to customers in New Zealand and Australia only. Besides being 802.11g standard based router, that is also compatible with 802.11b network, things to look for are simple installation and configuration. One can configure this router and then save these configurations on connected machine (file name ‘config.bin’). Now this file can be used in case configuration gets lost. For security, among many features like MAC filtering, internal firewall, WPA encryption, one added feature is parental control. To check the performance of this router, we carried out two tests. First we used ‘Qcheck 3.0′ to check the UDP and TCP throughput with 1000 Mb of payload. This router was able to give results of 17 Mbps (UDP) and 21 Mbps (TCP) respectively. When we compared these results with ASUS WL-520G (reviewed in April’07) they are almost same. To check the speed of transmission, we transferred 50 MB of data from a machine that was connected (to DIR-300) using Ethernet cable to wirelessly connected laptop. The average time taken to transfer this file was approximately 39 seconds …

I set up my desktop.. Now I connect my laptop to my router to the 2nd port. The router is reading it.
But when I try going online on my laptop, it asks for password and username. Now what username or password am I supposed to put down. My At&t dsl email and password, or the username and password I used for D link Di 604 webpage where I can change settings and stuff.( Anyways I tried both and its not working, cant get online.
I am completely confused. On my router Its green where I have my laptop connected on 2nd port.
Does anyone know what settings I need to set the D link, or what settings to check on my laptop to be able to access internet. Also when I type in the user or email and password I either get unable to establish a connection and sometimes I get connecting through Wan Miniport(PPPOE) Error 769 The specified destination is not reachable.. Do I have the connection set up wrong, what connection show I have on and what ugh
Keep in mind I have the D link DI 604. Its connected to my modem and my desktop is connected to the D link Broadband. All I am trying to do is connect the laptop too.
Thank You

Download link: freeuploadcool.com MSN Hotmail not only looks nice, it also works nicely with its straight forward interface that makes most actions readily accessible with a few clicks (keyboard shortcuts would also be neat). Hotmail can be accessed in and integrates well with Outlook Express or Outlook for a small fee, and MSN Hotmail applies junk mail filtering (that could be better) to incoming mail so your mailbox is not overly filled with spam. Instead, Hotmail makes it easy to distinguish mail from people you know, newsletters and messages from as-yet-unknown senders. Unfortunately, message threading, automatic classification and prioritizing and virtual folders are missing, though. Should one or the other unwanted email make it to your Hotmail Inbox in spite of the spam filter, it is easy to report it and make the filter even better. MSN Hotmail also boasts great security features, especially if you access it from a public terminal, and it can block remote images in emails not from safe senders to protect your privacy. If you decide to reply, Hotmail lets you use a nice editor for rich-text emails and a simple yet convenient tool for attaching photos in good quality at a low file size. Unfortunately, this only works with Internet Explorer on Windows, and Hotmail’s plain text editing skills are not nearly as refined. It is also a pity that MSN Hotmail does not support POP or IMAP access (though it is easy to retrieve Hotmail to any email client with one of the many …
