Is it possible to link two computers with just 1 Ethernet cable and play a game? (Dawn Of War)?
I’m just wondering the basics of LAN. All I’ve got is 1 CAT5 cable and two computers… Is there anything else that is essential to me?
I’m only doing this to play a game with my friend (NOT ONLINE)
Thanks in Advance.
Problem with a Linksys WRT54GS wireless router. My laptop connects to the network but i have no internet link?
Ok, here are all the details i can imagine would be relevant.
I have the Linksys WRT54GS wireless router set up with the CAT5 network cable going to the “internet” port from my DSL modem. I have another length of CAT5 going from the “1″ port to the ethernet port on my desktop computer. I am running Windows Vista Ultimate. I can get into my router configuration and set up my wireless network. When I do this, my laptop sees the network, gets an IP address and connects to the wireless network but I have no internet connectivity for either my desktop or my laptop. I know they are on the same network because I can use the remote desktop feature on my laptop to log in to my desktop (the whole reason i started this project). Unfortunately it isnt doing me any good because I cant connect to the internet. When run the cable directly from the modem to the ethernet port on the desktop (eliminating the router completely) it works just fine, evidenced by the fact i’m able to post this. Help!
Is there a link between telephones and computers?
I am asking a very abstract question. So, I hope you wouldn’t mind.
Is there a direct connection between computer technology and telecommunications technology?
For example, is there a link between topics concerning networking, tcp/ip, domain conrollers, etc and topics relating to telecommunications, GPRS, telephones, cell phones etc?
Or are they just 2 different issues brought to work together?
I hope you know what I am asking. Thanks.
Likewise, is the Internet a computer network being made to work on telephone network?

What is the best kind of Ethernet cable to link a desktop with a hub i see cat5′s 6′s 5e etc.?
I just Got Att U-verse fiber Optic supposedly ruining at 10mb but since the hub is far from my computer I only get 56bps plus i get only 3 bars instead of 5, att’s brilliant answer is to give me 55 bucks cash back to by a better wireless Receiver. Instead I think I’ll buy a 100ft Cable and pocket 30 bucks LOL but I need to know which one is the best cable to get so to maximize and get the full 10mb (
xbox system link question…?
okay, so i have a cat5 patch ethernet cable, a cat5 ethernet cable that says nothing about its type on it so i assume its patch, a cat5e cable which i also assume is patch because it says nothing on it, and a router. I am trying to system link two xboxes (original). could i use a cable i have to directly connect without a router or would i have to use a router for this because they are patch cables? note that one is a cat5e and the others are cat5.
also, would using a router instead of connecting directly be a slower connection/transfer rate?
Can I link my ethernet cable from my 20 GB PS3 to my lap top for wireless connection?
My laptop is connected through the internet through it’s own built-in wi-fi connection. The router is in my cousin’s room. If I connect an ethernet cable from my 20GB PS3 to my wireless laptop, will I be able to connect to the internet on my PS3? If not, any serious ideas?

can i link 2 pcs with one cat5 cable?
I have a 100ft run from my router and want to link another pc to the existing cable.. can i use a splitter and use both pc’s off the same cable? is it possible for them to each get a seperate ip address although it uses one port on the router?
I also have a small network hub. could I connect the 100 ft cable to the uplink and then connect both pc’s to the hub? Also the hub will be connected to one port in the router..
Using a Cisco 2950 router and a Allied AT-MC115XL media converter should there be a link light no matter what?
want to try this site out with real questions!
if you connect a Cisco 2950 router and a Allied AT-MC115XL media converter should there be a link light on the switch even if there is an issue with the fiber? i am using a cat5e patch cable about 5ft long. my experience says that the link should be there no mater if there will be traffic from the other switch/pc. it shouldn’t matter as long as ther converter has power and the switch port is open, right? i think the converter is bad. please supply urls! BTW i am not a neewbie and have tried most everything!
thank in advance!

I want to buy a new router to replace my current DIR 625 D- Link. What is the best gaming router?
I will connect 3 XBOX 360s, 4 wireless computers. I live in an apartment and there are other routers in the area. Also, my blue-ray player has wireless rear speakers. What would be the best router with the least interference and least lag when playing?
What is the best type of router for me to get for my xbox 360 to have a system link with four consoles?
I want to have a four system link with my friends at my house and none of us have the wireless connector for our xbox. So I’m wondering what kind, model, and brand of router I should get. P.S. I live in Ontario Canada so I need one that is available here.
