Can a Siemens Speedstream 4200 Broadband Modem “Windstream” be used as a wireless router for a laptop in my house?

Okay so I got the cicket wireless broadband and it works great on my pc BUT when i plug it into my laptop it says that its not connected or when i press connect it doesn’t connect and idk but when i try to uninstall it, it does but it still has the files saved and it just doesnt work at all.

I have a desktop PC with windows vista and I have an xp laptop that has a wireless broadband card, and I wanted to know how to connect my desktop to the internet through my laptop. I have an ethernet cable to connect them, but I could never establish an internet connection. Please explain to me what to do to get connected.

I have a broadband point in my room (student accommodation) and a laptop that has a 56K modem. Would I get a faster connection if I used a wireless router to connect wirelessly to the broadband connection rather than just a standard phone cable (will a normal phone cable do?) connected between the point and my laptop? My laptop has Wi-Fi. Any advice would be much appreciated as I don’t really have clue. Thanks!!!

I’m looking for a laptop with built in mobile broadband, but i’m insterested in a 15′ screen or bigger. I’m willing to spend about 800$ or less and want a quality battery life. Anyone know a particular model to fit my needs?

Ok, here are all the details i can imagine would be relevant.

I have the Linksys WRT54GS wireless router set up with the CAT5 network cable going to the “internet” port from my DSL modem. I have another length of CAT5 going from the “1″ port to the ethernet port on my desktop computer. I am running Windows Vista Ultimate. I can get into my router configuration and set up my wireless network. When I do this, my laptop sees the network, gets an IP address and connects to the wireless network but I have no internet connectivity for either my desktop or my laptop. I know they are on the same network because I can use the remote desktop feature on my laptop to log in to my desktop (the whole reason i started this project). Unfortunately it isnt doing me any good because I cant connect to the internet. When run the cable directly from the modem to the ethernet port on the desktop (eliminating the router completely) it works just fine, evidenced by the fact i’m able to post this. Help!

Im trying to install a Belkin router without using a desktop. I want to get wireless internet for laptop but do now know how to without desktop. Does anyone know how to do this?

I’m trying to connect my laptop and a desktop my uncle gave me so I can use the desktop as primary storage for both of the computers. I don’t really care if the desktop gets internet access, but right now I can’t get the two computers to “talk” to each other at all. I have them connected to each other via ethernet cable… now what?

Im trying to connect my 360 to xbox live and since XBOX is all automated now, nothing is helping. My x box is connected to my laptop through a Cat5e Network Cable. My laptop is connected to my linksys router (with optimum online connection) wirelessly. I created a bridge between my local area connection and wireless network.

Hi, my wireless router kept losing connection constantly so i got a switchbox (basically a router) to use instead. when i connect the laptop from the switchbox to the laptop with an ethernet cord i only get a local connection; and i need to have an internet conection.

How can I get broadband internet service on just my laptop? right now I have a 3 computer network and my brothers computer is the one with the modem, he’s moving out soon and that leaves me without internet access on my laptop. No, its not the only computer in my house, I have a desktop, the bill is not in my brothers name, and I know they are called wifi cards and I have a router, I just want to know how I can get internet on my laptop. I think what I will do is just move the modem to my desktop and then I’ll still have access on my laptop like I have now. When he moves out he’ll have to set up his cable tv anyways so might as well set up his internet service too right? besides he can’t take the modem from this residence its not his its the cable companies and he doesn’t pay the bill.
