The ethernet ports on my 2600 work fine when I connect a linksys or my voip-router, but when I plug in my NIC directly to any of the ethernet or fastethernet ports on the 2600 I don’t even get link light. I tried manually setting duplex. I only have straight-through cables, do I need a cross-over cable or WHAT?????? THANKS

We’re going to have a cable internet connection. It’s a relatively small house so range isn’t a real big issue. But we are going to need to have the router work with two desktops and four laptops which is why I ask if we need a higher-end router to handle that many clients or if your run of the mill routers will do just fine.

It’s really a pain in the arse having to restart the DHCP everytime I sign on.

Please be as specific as possible, as I’m not real proud of my PC knowledge.

i have ADSL through my telephone line with speed of 512 mb/s downstream and 128 upstream . is this broadband internet access ?
and when i download any file the speed of download range around 50 kb/s is this the real speed of the downstream ? or this is a thing and that ( 512 mb/s ) another thing ?

I know it is a lot faster on connection, downloading and is also a higher quality DSL ethernet cable type.

I have tried everything to play Xbox Live with my Arris Touchstone Telephony modem. I’ve heard that you need a router for it to play online….is it true? I don’t know. Plus, I even tried testing my connection…please, help.
