i have a cat5e wall jack but i don’t know what its used for.

Can I or can I only put a cat 5 cable into the Ethernet connector jack thing.

I just got a PS3 and the WiFi tends to cut out for my online play. I have an ethernet cable and and a plate for an outlet, but I dont know how to put it into use. I have a ethernet jack upstairs but it is being used for another computer. Can i put another ethernet jack in my basement without having to run a wire from the upstairs to the basement? Thank you! I have an Xbox 360 and wireless internet,but the wireless adapter is too expensive. I also have Comcast Triple Play(Internet,T.V,and phone service) is there any convertor that i can convert an ethernet cable in to a phone jack, without messing up the phone service?

I have the wall jack on one end and a regular plug in jack on the other end. On the end jack I did orange white,orange,green white,bluewhite,green,brown white brown. On the wall jack I assume i should do the B set rather than the A but I am not for sure.

have a home network with 6 cat5 plugs .. i dont understand how the only way to get any of the router ports to light up is if i put the jacks on the left side of the plug ? WTF .. of course the one for my room is on the RIGHT SIDE .. how could this have happened .. just someone messed up the one side while connecting the cat5 jacks ?

i want to change a phone jack to a cat5e. my question is do i need anything additional to do this, or do i need to run new wire or is it as simple as replacing a power outlet? (disconnecting wires from the old one putting them on the new one.) answering these questions and anything else you think might help would be appreciated. P.S. i dont want to just use a converter. Not wnat i meant what i mean is how do you know which wire goes in which place on the back of the network jack?

I noticed on the package they are not stripped, and I also noticed on a separate installation they are not stripped.

How does it make contact with the jack then?

I have a GE coax and ethernet combo wall plate. The ethernet jack portion is not like the common plug and wall plate design. Its jack is built in to the wall plate itself, and the connections on the back of the wall plate are different. There are 8 screw-down connections in a semicircle layout. The biggest problem is that the 8 screws are color coded, but are not the same colors as the 8 wires inside cat5e cable. Can anyone tell me in what configuration to connect the cat5e wires to the differently colored GE jack wires? Thanks!

I just purchased a tv with a ethernet jack enabling it to surf youtube, the weather, etc. However my apartment complex provides free wireless throughout the complex, meaning I need a way to connect the bare jack on the back of the tv to this network, and I have no idea how, any help would be great, especially space saving solutions.
