Hey guys,
What are some moral OR ethical issues on the following topics:
The Human genome project
Chemical and bio weapons
Animal cloning
Human and animal DNA hybrids
Mobile telephony
Bio fuels
Genetically modified foods
Extending artificial intelligence
Biometric technology
Genetic screening.
OR, can you think of any contemporary scientific-technological advances which have already – or about to- change the way we live, and any moral or ethical issues they raise.
Thanks in advance

Cat5 copper cable, health & safety issues. Does anyone know whether there are any specific issues that I have?
to be aware of if I wish to run a cat5 externally (temporarily). Some people are telling me this is now illegall, some are saying there are specific health & safety issues, but I do not know what they are? Can I insist the cable has to be protected by rubber sleeving?

Xbox Live issues. Netgear Router and Westell DSL Modem?
I have a Netgear WPN824 router and a Westell 6100 Bellsouth DSL modem. I have the DSL modem plugged into one LAN port of my router and I have my Xbox plugged into another LAN port. I have forwarded ports 88, 2074, and 3074.
I’m not sure, though, if I am getting the right IP addresses on my router. My IP address range is between 10.0.0.2 and 10.0.0.253 Those just don’t look right. Through my searches on the web about Xbox live I have seen ranges like 192.168.15.2 to 192.168.12.253
I have set my Westell modem to Bridged Ethernet connection rather than PPPoE. Is this normal or with my setup should my DSL modem be set to PPPoE?
I have checked my network configuration after many unsuccessful attempts to fix my router but nothing works. When I check my “attached devices” the only thing that shows is my computer it doesn’t even show the Xbox. I have checked to make sure that my router is DHCP enabled and still there is a problem with the IP on my Xbox.
What do I do? Any advice is appreciated.
P.S. I have power cycled all of the devices and that didn’t work either.
How can I enable DHCP on my router? My xbl can’t connect because of IP address issues.?
That’s it.
DHCP means the router automatically assigns ip addresses to things connected to it, and xbl is xbox live.
It is an Actiontec M(i cant tell if this is an i or a 1)424wr. So it is either mi424wr or m1424wr

Why is my wireless network having issues?
First, let me introduce you to my network. It’s a Linksys WRT54G v3 Wireless-G Router. It’s a little beat up though because one of the antennae is broken. My modem is an Arris TouchStone Telephony Modem and i have Comcast High-Speed Internet. The connection goes 6Mbps.The issue is that the computer i’m using (Toshiba Satellite M45),my connection with the wireless network sometimes is slower than it’s normal rate (54mbps),going at rates of 48,36,24,18,11,and sometimes 1Mbps.It sometimes results in longer loading times (not always like dial-up) on the net and the inability to load pages.Even worse,it self-disconnects and then reconnects (because it’s automatic) despite little changing of distance.I’ve used one other computer to browse the internet which is a Gateway 15.1″ laptop with Windows Vista Home Basic, but i don’t remember if i had any issues with slow network connections or self-disconnection on that computer. So if you know of a good solution to this conflict, feel free to answer.
I understand that the local network connection speed is different from the internet connection speed, but it’s negatively affecting my ability to browse the internet as i just mentioned.1Mbps on my local network connection makes it hard for me to browse the internet at its normal speed.

New hard drive issues?
I purchased a 1.5 SATA HDD for my machine and installed it (un-jumpered). I installed windows xp on it and everything was fine. I installed some games and played them and after about 12 hours of use while browsing with about 7 tabs open in firefox, I got a blue screen of death. The computer restarted before i could see the driver or error code referenced. After that the computer wouldn’t load windows xp. It would either freeze or give me a BSOD with tcpip.sys or win32k.sys listed as the driver. So I booted to my old hard drive where the blue screens continued to occur. I formated and reinstalled but it hangs halfway through the installation with the BSOD referencing NTloader.dll. I have swapped out ram – (i get a lot further but i still get blue screens on both old and new hard drives) and used a different cdrom (i was getting cannot find this file on the cd errors- i’d hit try again and it’d go with no problems). When i use one HDD, the other is unplugged. Any ideas?
I have drained the bios and have flashed and updated it. Jumpers are set. I get the same errors while installing xp and vista. However, i was able to install centOS without a problem. I’m attempting to get a new cd of windows xp to ensure the media isn’t the problem…I have been trying to install xp with sp2 slipstreamed. And a correction, the blue screen occurs with ntdll.dll and not ntloader.dll. My apologies.
Another note, i have dban’d the drive as well.
How to I fix the PPPoE incompatibility issues with my router and the ISP HK HGC?
