i am using a conextent accessrunner adsl modem in linux.it establishes the link but i dont know how to give my username and password.

i have reset my router (Azteck DSL305EU) after thet i’m not able to connect to internet.

I just got an XBOX 360 and I can’t figure out how to download my media onto my XBOX hard drive from the computer. I hooked up my 360 to the back of my computer where I would usually hook up the CAT5 cable to go to the modem. I opened Windows Media 11 and turned media sharing on but my XBOX still won’t find my computer. If it helps I have a router I can hook my 360 and computer up to if I need to.

I need a step by step walkthrough telling me what to do. 10 points to whoever figures it out first.

I have searched everywhere to help with my problem and kind find a fix so I am in need of help. My house is prewired for 2 ethernet(cat5e) connections in every room. I just don’t know how to get internet connections to run to them. I have a patch panel in my house for all the ethernet and cable lines to run to so Does anyone know how to send an internet connection through my patch panel? I have a cable internet connection with wireless but it has a very poor connection which is why i want to use ethernet. Do I have to buy a router and pat all 16 ethernet hookups into one and run that to my cable modem? By the way my patch panel isn’t anywhere near my main cpu if that makes a difference.Thanks in advance.

okay, I’m at work and there are prob 10 computers connected through the network. I’m wanting to move a comp into an unused room to set up an office. I’ve plugged my comp up & went to the back to plug a Cat5e cable to some box, and I get internet connection, but it won’t connect to the program I need to access. It says NO CONNECTION. I am obviously missing something.
Okay, so I think I may have figured out how to do it, but now I notice the keyboard won’t work! I even took this one in there and it wouldn’t work on it. The lights lit up on the keyboard, but it won’t take anything I key in
I actually get an internet connection, that’s how I was able to tell the keyboard won’t work. I went to a few sites I had already been on in this room. It is only another room. Same building. I just checked, and it does say I’m connected to the local area network, so I guess my problem is with the actual program….
so forget the original question now! SORRY
now I need help with the keyboard!LOL

and i can put one of the ends in my xbox, but the other end wont fit into my wireless router or comcast cable modem….what do i need to get to hook up to xbox live?

We have our house wired with Cat5 wire, and we want to put an ethernet signal on it. The only problem is, our phone is on one pair. What’s the difference between a cat5e cord with only 4 terminals and a cat5e with 8? Will it affect my internet connection speed?

Also, there is a long distance between my modem and computer. If the connection from my modem to my computer is:
modem — cat5e cord — cat5 cord — cat5e cord — computer, will the cat5 cord slow down my connection?

would work with my xbox 360 to connect into a Linksys router

it also says “Perfect in conjunction with 10 and 100 Base-T, and even 1000 Base-T networks.” would that work with a Linksys router?

My wireless is way to slow for gaming so I’m considering buying an ethernet cord and I need help choosing the most appropriate one.

Does it matter how long the cord is? My computer is about 15 feet away from the port, but will the length of the cord affect anything like ping?

The speed of the gaming is fine, however the lag is excessive and the wireless is unreliable. I live in a concrete box called a dorm room, so since I can’t change the internet connection I’m hoping a cord will improve this.

Here is what I had (as of 3 hours ago), internet modem in my room with Cat 5e running everywhere along the house.

Here is what I did…used my pre-laid out Cat 6 wiring throughout the house to setup my computers. I am very much a newbie at this…so understand where I am coming from. I put the modem in my attic, wired/punched the Cat 6 into the drywall (with a wall plate). One end was the default RJ45 (came that way from factory, but appears to be T568B) and the other end I punched down (T568A format).

So from the inside of the room. I had a Cat 6 ethernet plate for my computer on the wall. Looks good! I take an existing Cat5 (because I had it handy) and plugged it in…it works! Surfing the web, etc.

…now here is where I run into problems. I take some extra Cat6 and use RJ45s (cat 6 ones) and punch both ends (T568B format). It doesn’t work! It seems strange, because if I did T568B and T568A on the ends, I would make a cross over.

What am I doing
