I have a desktop computer and a laptop. My laptop is connecting to the internet fine via router running from my Internet Modem located near my Desktop PC. My local connection seems fine but everytime I open a browser on my desktop PC, it says “Internet Explorer cannot display this page”. I have searched for a lot of answers over Yahoo but none seem to match my problem.

Things I have tried:
- Deleting Winsock/2 folders from ‘Registry Editor’ then restoring them through reinstalling TCP/IP Protocol.
- Resetting the router a few times.
- Restarting the PC
- Running a virus-scan with Norton 360.
- Yahoo Answers
- Uninstalling a few programs that may contain SpyWare.
- Checking everything is plugged in right at the back of the modem.

Although i did this, my Desktop PC is still not connecting to the internet.

the real problem here is me not being able to connect to the internet. can anyone help me please?

within the last month I have been having internet difficulties. it has been half the speed of what it was and i have been frequently trying to find the source of the problem.

I use the AVG 8.5 network edition and at first i thought it was this, i looked in my systems tools option and found that there were 60 outgoing connections under the name of avgnsa.exe some to the same I.P others to seperate. I then disabled what i had read was the cause of this and disabled my link scanner and webshield. This had no effect, even though the connections stopped there were other connection now .I had super-anti-spyware free edition, spybot search and destroy but i removed them as i thought they may be a problem and may be what was slowing down my internet connection this was not the case and they had nothing to do with it.

i did a speedtest about two weeks ago halfway through when this started to occur and my rate was quite good, 128 ping, 5.64mb/s and 0.31 upload rate. one week later i tried this again and the ping was 151 the download rate was roughly the same but the upload rate either wouldn’t start or if it did it would say error after about 20 seconds of it just staying around 0.29-0.31.

I ran tuneup utilities 2009 and i cleaned up my computer creating an extra 30gbs of space and i thought maybe that was why, maybe there was to much crap clogging up my computer. not the case. I tried using netsh winsock reset in cmd.exe but nothing happend.

as i said the other computer’s in my house work fine.

I am currently already on a highspeed internet connection, ADSL2

My computer says I am connected to my linksys but I can’t actually connect to the internet through int. explorer or firefox. My boyfriend’s computer works just fine. I can connect no prob at my parents house and even when I was in Ireland. Didn’t need to change my settings or anything. Tried turning my firewall off, that didn’t work. It says I’m connected at full bars, it used to work no problem, and works everwhere else, though I’ve only tried secured networks. However, I had no problems on my unsecured network a couple weeks ago, and my boyfriend connects no problem. Tried connecting straight into the thing as wired even. No internet. Help! Everyone I ask is baffled.

I am using Windows Vista. I have been having this problem for 2 weeks. ran the winsock jazz first thing. Did an ipconfig/release as admin but can’t do a config/renew.
apparently when i do the ipconfig/all or whatever I have no gateway ip address. help!

that recovers your system to fix it. It seemed to fix the problem. I also had a corrupted winsock which wasn’t allowing the system to recognize my internet connection. I seemed to be able to fix these things and recover the system and delete the virus issues that were causing this. I then downloaded norton 360 to make sure I wouldn’t have issues like this again.
Then tonight, my power went out for a few moments in my home, disrupting my computer that was on. When I restarted my computer, it went through the Dell beginning thing and then went to the loading page for Windows XP, and then automatically started over again, never getting past the load page for Windows XP and going back to the beginning screen. Then a page popped up saying that my computer could have possibly been disrupted or new hardware or something could have caused it and it gave me an option to then start windows again properly, which I did, but still it did nothing. I tried to take it to the last known configuration that worked, but it doesn’t seem to do that either since I can’t get past the whole windows XP loading page where the bar is loading across before you get to your desktop page. Now I am in safemode with networking, which seems to be the only way I can get to my desktop and I was wondering what I can do to fix this problem. Do I need to reinstall windows or what do I need to do to fix this problem? It all came about when my power went out and the computer was shut off improperly during it.

server dhcp range is 192.168.0.0 but after rebooting client pc its showing 172.16.0.0 range.

I have already checked my firewall and it is not blocking it at all.

Everytime i edit my PPPoE settings my IP Address fails. but when i don’t edit my PPPoE settings it says i have to. Can anyone help?

I’m having some trouble setting up my wireless router. It’s a netgear wgt624, and I have At&t yahoo dsl. The dsl works flawlessly when I connect it directly via ethernet to the computer. But when I attempt to setup the router it works fine until the PPPoE information entry stage. Honestly, I have no clue what to enter here. I’ve tried my AT&T username and password to no avail. Any help you could provide would be greatly appreciated, and thanks for your time. I’ll be on to post more details if they can help you help me. Again, thanks.

I have VSAT broad band Internet connection with one public IP address,can it be possible to distribute it on more clients using DHCP facility without creating proxy server in my machine (Windows server 2003)

I was going through the set-up wizard with the CD that cam with the router, but I hit a dead-end.
I was asked what type of connection I had and was given the following choices (DHCP, PPPoE, Static IP, PPTP, L2TP, and TELSTRA). How can I figure out which one I should select?

i might be doing it wrong but i’m not sure i’m following the on screen instructions but its just not working, it wont connect to the internet, the page that gets me all confused says ” are a user id and password required to access your provider? (PPPoE is used)” please help

I have 10 computers based on windows 98 & XP & there is not any server. Only have workgroup environment with static IP addresses, what should I do to implement DHCP. Kindly send the detailed reply.

In my network settings the DHCP is not enabled, and I need to turn it on but i don’t know where to configure it, as it doesn’t let me in that window. In that window it gives me no options to change anything it just shows me information. I need to know where I can go to configure DHCP settings and enable/disable it. Please help

For some reason, the ethernet port on my laptop is not functioning. I just purchased a wireless router, and according to
the instructions for setup I need to at some point in the process connect the router to my computer. I heard somewhere a while back that there is a way to set up the wireless router without connecting the router to my computer AND without using the intallation software the router came with. I am however able to connect to the internet with a USB cable, but my router (and all other routers in the store) do not have a USB connection port.

From what I can gather, it has something to do with typing a generic IP address into a web browser or something.

CAN ANYONE HELP!!!!

I have a high speed internet connection on one computer with a linksys broadband router. In my office downstairs i have two computers that i would like to convert to wireless. I bought two usb wireless adapters for these computers. I ran through instalation and the internet worked fine. But, now i can’t connect to the internet and it says i can only work offline. I believe i am connected to my router but now it asks me to dial a WAN Miniport pppoe. It asks for a username and password. I have no idea why i would need to dial anything for my internet. But i don’t know what to do. Thanks for any help

I have closed offices with a common corridor. i want to place the Cisco 1130AG wireless access point at the corridor so that all offices can share the Internet. The radius of the floor containing the offices and the corridor will not be greater than 30 meters.

My boss wants me to explain to him how having like 50 MB or 5 GB would work with having a broadband access internet card. He’s not computer literate at all. Any insight? Thanks!
I understand its how much you are allowed to use before you go over, but I just need to know how to explain how bytes work to to my boss in a way that he could understand. He is very computer illiterate and doesnt grasp anything on this concept. Thanks!

I play ps3 online. To do this i need to take out the ethernet from the back of my computer and plug it into my ps3. When i want to reconnect ethernet cable to my computer, i always have to restart my computer and modem for the internet to work again. This is a lot of hassle because my computer takes long to start up.

Is there a way I can connect my ethernet cable to my computer when its already on, and still manage to use the internet?
