Why am I having trouble with my office phone wiring?
I’m not very savvy when it comes to telecommunications but I will try to explain to the best of my ability.
I have recently moved offices, because of a good deal at a better/larger office. The last tenant had vacated the office about a year ago. They had renovated the office and installed a PBX phone system and lay cables for a network throughout the office (cat5e cable with about 15 rj45 wall jacks). They left the office in a rush, and were apparently being loaned most of their equipment, so they removed it all, so when I moved in there was just a bunch of cat5e cables hanging out of the wall in the closet, as well as the demarcation (?) phone cables. The phone cabling is all wired up to a krone punch-block. I tested some of the pairs (Blue/White, Orange/White, Green/White) with an analog phone, and got a disconnected tone from the O/W and G/W pairs – I’ll assume they had 2 phone lines running through these pairs.
My ISP has activated naked DSL for the building (a techie went out to the exchange and did whatever they do). On my end, all I’ve done is connected my modem directly up to the appropriate pair (regular cable from modem to the wall with the BT plug cut off and the wires exposed) to see if I get DSL Sync. I get absolutely nothing though, and I have tested a few of the other pairs too.
So my question is: Am I doing something completely wrong/stupid? Should wiring up the modem to the phone wires like this work? What should I do to sort out the problem (DIY)?
What’s a good way to sell a product/service without having to advertise?
I am an Independent Representative for a telecommunications company and have been trying to figure out a way to sell a product/service to people who want to great service for low cost. However, I cannot create flyer’s because I can’t use the company’s logo. Also, there are many gated communities in my neighborhood that do not allow solicitors. What should I do?

I work in the field of mobile telecommunications. In my observation, the percentage of employees in this field who have daughters greatly outnumber those who have sons. These are employees / colleagues that worked in this field for many years.

I`m having a weird problem with my adsl line.?
I`m having a weird problem with my adsl line.It works fine when I`m not on the phone. The minute I receive a call the connection(ADSL) will be lost. I only get reconnected when I change filters.I have about five filters that I recycle through. I have the ADSL nation XF 1e, Fujitsu excelsior FDX100-UK filters.BT came to check the line and found no problem with it. However, I could sometimes hear the modem dialling out on the phone line. I really do not know what else to do. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Having trouble hooking up Linksys wireless router without the CD?
I am trying to set up my home network. I have a desktop that I was going to keep wired and then my notebook has an integrated 802.11g card. To accommodate both wired and wireless connections, I purchased a Linksys WRT54G router. I have plugged in my broadband cable line from my high speed modem into the router, but when I plug in my CAT5e cable from the router’s built in 4 port switch, my desktop and notebook both acknowledge they are connected to a LAN but there is little or no connectivity. I cannot access the internet or transfer files between computers. I have misplaced the setup CD but I am aware that it is not required to setup the router, as you can access the router settings by its default IP address of 192.168.1.1, but I get nothing when I type that in my address bar. I have tried resetting the router by holding down the button on the back, but it still doesnt work. I have tried downloading the firmware from the Linksys website but I do not have a program to run .BIN files.

I’m having trouble with this math problem, can someone please help!?
A freight version of Boeing’s 747 airliner has 2.7×104 cubic feet of cargo space. A CD in its jewel case has a volume of 10.8 cubic inches. Assume that each CD holds 650 megabytes of information.
(a) If you packed the aircraft with as many CDs as it could hold, how much information could you store in megabytes?
(b) A “56K” modem typically transmits information at 45 kilobits per second. In computer terminology, a kilobit is 1024 bits, and a megabyte is 1,048,576 bytes. One byte equals eight bits of information. How long would it take to transmit the amount of information contained in one 747 planeful of CDs through a modem?
(c) A T3 high-speed internet connection transmits information at 45.0 megabits per second. As with bytes and bits, one megabyte equals eight megabits of information. Assume that it takes 12 hours to load, fly and unload the 747. How many T3 connections would it take to transmit this information in 12 hours?
