I am using Gmail and I have POP and IMAP with Gmail and I have Google Desktop. I want to search my e-mail using Google Desktop. So how can I download Gmail e-mails to my computer?

I know I can use Java Mail API but I am getting an error
“javax.mail.MessagingException: Connection timed out: connect”

I’m using Outlook 2007 and I’ve connected my gmail account ot outlook using IMAP. The connection is working and I’m managed to download around 200 messages. However, I know I have at least 1,000 messages and I would like to be able to download all of them to my computer. How can I direct outlook to download everything from the server?

I want to use imap but it consistently wants to download all my archived messages. Where do I set it up to only download the labels/folders but not all of the messages.

I am trying to have both a Mac and Treo 700P keep their e-mail accounts synched, but this won’t work with POP3, because once one device sucks down the latest messages, the other is unable to retrieve the same message. Any advice would be appreciated. I am currently using Comcast for internet, but they don’t support IMAP.
