At my University we were told not to illegally download music/movies/etc because they would be able to see. In our room we connect to the internet using cat5 cables and some common areas have wifi.

Is there a program or some setting I might be able to use to successfully download things via torrent w/o getting caught??

I purchased a cordless DECT (1.8.ghz) cordless phone attaches an adsl filter to it and i still get adsl noise. I disabled wireless broadcasting on my router yet i still get that annoying white noise. Could it me the receiver is too close to the router? (40 cm away from router)? Thanks

I just bought a Gigabit ethernet card for my PC and some Cat5E internet cable. I connected my NAS straight to my PC, because my router\switch is only 100mb. (My NAS is rated for Gigabit speeds (Up to 135MB/s)) But my NAS only transfers at 21 MB/s. I know my pc hard drive can handle at least 100MB/s because Ive tried and my NAS has 2 Sata hard drives so they should be fine. Any idea what I’m doing wrong?
I have my Network Attached Storage connected directly to my Gigabit ethernet card in my computer. To be honest to measure this I’m watching the Windows 7 transfer window and trying different file types of different sizes. I also have Windows feature “Remote Differential Compression” on when trying all of this. With it off I get at most 6 Megabytes per second.

I bought a ps3 and call of duty. I also have a router. So i play on my WiFi and it starts to freeze alot.I want to know what should i do to play on WiFi without the PS3 glitching,freezing or buffering.
P.S:should i buy a wire(cat5) to connect my router with my PS3 or is there any other ways

Everything I find is in German and I can’t read German. I can’t figure out how to get online at home. I have my modem and the green lights for “power” “DSL” and “LAN” are on. No green light for “Online”. I follow through the screens in German to enter all my info but then when I press “Internet verbinden” (I think…) I still can’t get onto websites. The orange light where I plug the CAT5 cable into my laptop is flashing like it does when I am online. How do I get online or where can I find answers to this problem in English?

because I need something to make my internet faster so I was just wondering if an ADSL 2+ Modem made any difference from a normal broadband modem.

I will have 2 laptops and 1 desktop working off this router. However, due to safety concerns, i do not want anybody else from working off of my router signal.

i just persuaded my dad to pay 100 pounds towards my macbok for me, he says is that all it because i wont be happy if i have to buy something for it, THEN i realised have ADSL (wired) what do i have to do/buy to get i online?

i want to know if there is any way to tweek windows to get more out of the 1000 base card that i have. right now i normaly use only 1-3 % of the card when i look at the network tab of the task manager. but when i use a dos database i have i get up to 25-50%. i have ten or so pc on my network all having gig cards and a gig switch and running on cat5e

I’m getting a new desktop in a couple of weeks, and I want to get a new (wireless) router to accompany it.
1. Do I get the router from Verizon, or from a store like Best Buy?
2. When I hook up my new computer, would I just install the router myself, or would I need to call up Verizon for assistance?

BONUS: What router would you recommend, considering it will be used by one desktop and one laptop?

I might be getting ADSL ultimate 25GB 1500k/256k. i’m just wondering is the the top speed 1.5MB. A friend of mine said its actually 150.0k/25.6k but another friend of mine said that it is that speed but because i live about 4 kilometres away from where place is it will go down to like 800k or 500k.
Which is right.
And also its cable and connects to phone line.

We have no broadband cable service in the farming community we live in. I would like to get high-speed internet instead of using the slow modem. Can high-speed internet and satelite television be combined in one dish?

I have heard of people trying the exam for three years before they pass CCIE!

But if someone had to make a choice between aiming for a CCIE or a PhD what should it be?

I know I’m getting some upload as I can send simple Google queries and get results. However, anything of any size at all is just not getting through. I’ve ruled out everything except the wire going through the wall. What could possibly be wrong with such that I get only a trinkle of upload speed?
Ok, so it’s obviously making the connection. Where else do I look?

I’ve tried hooking in directly to the router and that works just fine.

But when I go from the router to the wall (which goes through the attic to another wall) and then try to connect, I end up with these problems. I’ll try some of what you suggested, though.

For example, lets say I did CCNA and then went on to CCNP. From there I took the CCSP. Would that renew the CCNP and the CCNA or just the CCNA?

I keep reinstalling ADSL WebPower Modem Program for my internet connection and after about 10 or 15 minutes it up and disappears from My Network Connections folder and I have to start all over again. It seems like something is deleting it. I have Symantec AntiVirus and Windows Defender on my computer, but that is about all that I can think of.

I am interested in getting naked broadband (I have done some research and am interested in Internode). There is a phone line in my apartment which I don’t use. However, I am a renter (and tech retarded) and can’t modify the apartment at all – does having this installed actually affect how the phone line will work in the future? How exactly does the installation process work?
