I know how to go to http://192.168.n1.n2, but then I do not know what I should do to secure the router. Someone is using the router and is causing our internet access to be very slow.

I always used to unplug my ethernet cable from my desktop computer and connect it to my laptop so I could access the internet. I have windows vista and now out of no where it wont work. My laptop wont even recognize that an ethernet cable has been plugged in. What can I try?

My laptop is connected through the internet through it’s own built-in wi-fi connection. The router is in my cousin’s room. If I connect an ethernet cable from my 20GB PS3 to my wireless laptop, will I be able to connect to the internet on my PS3? If not, any serious ideas?

I just installed Win98 on my old computer, I want to connect it to the Internet from my base computer running Vista. I had Linux installed before, where I’d just plug the Ethernet cable from one computer to the other, and I was running Internet on both. Since putting 98 I can’t get it too work, I’m sure it’s a setting in 98. Could someone help me out?

I will have 2 laptops and 1 desktop working off this router. However, due to safety concerns, i do not want anybody else from working off of my router signal.

I have decided to wire my house for ethernet, so that I have no trouble streaming 1080p video from a centralized server, which I would like to have in the basement. How would I go about getting the cables to the main floor and second floor, and then, from that point, to the necessary rooms?

I’ve been reading guides online, and some recommend a main floor coat closet with a conduit. This is doable, as behind the baseboard (I’m doing floors so these aren’t installed) there is a small open space to the boiler room in the basement. However, from this point, there are two problems. How do I run the cable to the two or three points I want on the main floor, and how do I go up through the ceiling to the second floor? Right above the coat closet is a hallway.

If I can find a way to get upstairs, maybe I can go all the way to the attic, and distribute upstairs that way. But the main floor is still a mystery to me.

Finally, do builders use any conduit for telephone/coaxial cable wiring? I have outlets for those in most rooms, I wonder if it would be possible to use that to my advantage.

I am thinking about buying a Broadband Modem A600 from cricket but I want to know if it is worth it before I do.

Im in my dorm and on the wall we only get 2 ethernet hubs, but me and my room mate both have computers and I want to hook up my xbox. Can I put in a wireless router and get internet connection from more than one place, or is there an easier way?

Is there a way to turn laptop into wifi hotspot? it can’t be ad-hoc, the real wifi, it’s connected via a mobile broadband card.

I’m currently trying to connect my xbox to my laptop, and my laptop to my router. But, my laptop holds one ethernet port, and a phone jack. Is there any way I can turn this into a ethernet port so I can link my laptop to my router?

Wireless set-up uses Belkin USB adapter and Belkin modem/router. Signal reported as strong, works well when connected but connection repeatedly fails, requiring clicking on icon in taskbar to re-start.
