Hi, Iam creating a home network. Obviously for the telephone i’ll be using cheapo cat5 or something but data-wise, whats the best ethernet cable i can buy and where can i buy it? Am i correct in assuming cat7? Thanks

I have Quest DSL and a Modem, I want to extend my network,,what are the fastest types of ethernet wire?

heres my set up

phoneline -> modem -> router -> computers, printer, wall bridge

i have a cat 5 going from my modem to my router, and a cat6 going from my router to the bridge. (a bridge makes any electrical outlet a potential internet port if you plug a second bridge in). then in another room i have a cat 5e going from the second bridge to my xbox. is this set up ok? i know that cat 6 gets the most MHz out of any of them. what does MHz have to do with connection speed anyway? tell me if i should get 2 other cat 6′s or SWITCH SOME OF THEM AROUND? i get about 2.5 to 3 mbps.

i’m currently using 3 mobile broadband, but the signal is very poor. Some of my friends said that ithe signal is blocked by the building where i’m staying. is it possible to block a signal? if it is really being blocked, do u have any suggestion of internet options that i can use? (i dont have a phone line). What is the fastest mobile broadband provider in Melbourne?

I’m planning to buy a prepaid kit of wireless broadband but i can’t decide which one would i buy. I don’t want to waste money so i would like to get the best one. I’m currently located in Pasig so I would like to know which is the best one to use that has great signal in the location.

I tried to look for a chart for a recent speed time for the browsers but the closest I’ve seen were around Sept. 2008

I travel in my work, and I’m sick of hotels charging $10 a night for internet access, or not having internet access, or having it, ‘but it’s broken’, etc.

I’m thinking of one of those plug-in devices that connect your Laptop to the internet via the cell phone network. But I want SPEED! what’s the fastest network out there for that? Reliability and cost is important too, but not as important as speed.

Ours is 1.8mb/s 3G HSDPA on cellphones
Broadband DSL is 2mb/s but they are having trials of 4mb/s because of the pressure from the cellphones.
I am just intersted to know how far behind are we compared to the rest of the world.

Well..I officially hate comcast. It went from a burning regret , to a hate. Crappy service , slow-er-than-advertised internet connection , phone and cable never work all that well…time to move on.

Verizon FIOS comes to our part of town in a bit…how long…well..a bit.

Should I wait the 6 months or a year , or , are there any other providers that have all 3 services (TV , Phone , Internet) that won’t break my wallet?

Also…how much are t1 , or t3 lines around here , if anyone knows?

I am very unhappy with my phone and DSL service with SBC or ATT. Can some one please tell me about any other services that offer phone and high speed internet in the state of Oklahoma.
