Identifying cat5 cable ends.?
I have cat5 cable layed in different rooms. This cable is not tagged. How to identify the ends of cable.
There are several wires on other side in other physical place. I want to identify the one going from my room to that place.
Does a router halve the signal or does the bandwidth stay the same on all ends?
Im planning on purchasing a router because of new computers and a ps3 and i was just wondering whether a router splits the signal with my excruciatingly slow 256 kbps bandwidth speed on both ends or does it halve it. So if i had two computers using the internet at the same time would i have 256 kbps on both computers or roughly 128 kbps on each?
A friend of mine brought over some Cat6 wire, wanted me to put ends on it.. I need some help on the pin order.
I stripped it down and didn’t see the standard orange, blue, green and brown… Instead it is orange, brown, greyish and clear.
What is the 568B pin order I should be using for a standard end?

How is performance of CAT5E T568B cable affected if wires are swapped at both ends (pin-to-pin unchanged)?
Pinout of CAT5E T568B is 1wht/org 2org 3wht/grn 4blu 5wht/blu 6grn 7wht/brn 8brn. If pins 3 & 5 were interchanged at both ends (electrically, pin-to-pin wiring unchanged), would that affect CAT5E performance and how? Would same thing happen if pins 4 & 6 were interchanged at both ends?
Is salvaged cat5 ethernet cable more valuable as scrap or refitted with ends and sold on ebay?
