Is there any problem if we put network cables & electrical wires together for office networking?
We are doing networking for new office and electrical work also. The electrical engineer want to put both the Cat5 cable & electrical cables together in one box.Is there any problem if we put them together?

If I were to run new wiring, would I be able to reuse a new-work electrical box in the drywall?
There is currently a new-work electrical box in the drywall from decades ago. If I were to run new wiring, could I reuse that electrical box, or should I abandon that box and dig in a new hole in the drywall to install an old-work electrical box?
[It's actually a plastic box holding telephone wiring; wanted to run cat5e wiring...]
Whats screws/nails do I need to work around cables outside my home? (electrical)?
I have internet connection at my home and I’m planning to split a wired connection using one modem. I will be using a 50 feet cat5 cable outside my home running it against the walls however, what screws will hold the cable in place without damaging or stressing the wire?
Thanks, I have the picture of the screw or nail with a white plastic holder to support the wire but I can’t think of its name..
Whats a rough estimate to upgrade electrical in an old house?

Also if anyone knows a good electrician in Brooklyn to do the job.

Best way to chain an electrical outlet?
I have a data home run (telephone, Cat5 and Cable TV) where I need to add an electrical outlet to power a data switch. The HR is right next to my breaker panel and there is an unswitched electral outlet 3 feet directly below the HR. What is the best way to wire the new outlet? Should I daisy it from the outlet, or run the wire first to the HR and then down to the outlet? I’m now sure at this point where the wire to the existing outlet originates.
Should I do a master of electrical engineering?
I am a sponsored student which mean my master education will be paid by my sponsor if i were to do it. However, the condition is extra 2 years of bond with the employer which make the total years of bond to be 7 years. This 7 years are 2 years of bond for master sponsorship and 5 years of bond for degree sponsorship.
I am set to graduate in the end of 2010 with a bachelor of honours in electrical engineering in University of New South Wales. If i were to continue in master, it would be in that same Uni for another year. The master course that i am planning to take is a coursework master where the duration is 1 year. The major that i applied to is power engineering because i sucks at electronics and telecomunication. Therefore, i am planning to do a power engineering major with a control minor.
Given these situations, i am not sure whether it is worthwhile to do a master degree or not because i would lose 2 more years of freedom sticking with the same employer and whether a power engineering master really helps in raising the salary as an electrical engineer? I am hoping to get a feel of the salary as an electrical engineer with master in Malaysia and Australia. Anyone with working experience in electrical engineering field is welcome to give me some clue.

electrical interferance on Direct TV signal?
Our household recently got switched over to Direct tv.(supplied by our landlord) the line comes to our house through a multiplexer? to bring the satellite and cable Internet access on one line. The satellite receiver and TV are plugged into the same powerstrip. We’ve noticed a signal interference problem when certain electrical items turn on. Space heater, Dishwasher, microwave, spin cycle on the washer. I tried running an extension cord from an upstairs receptacle to power the direct tv transceiver. But it had no effect. I tried checking the signal strength of the satellite during the problem and found transponders # 4,12,20, and 28 would drop to 0 or close to it. We even switched out the transceiver with the landlord unit but the problem seem to be isolated to this house. Any suggestions on what to try next?
Did I do really bad on my job interview for electrical engineering?
I had a job interview today. They gave me an assessment test when I arrived. It wasn’t timed, but it took me like 50 minutes to finish. But I had forgotten a few things like the formula for resonance frequency and a question about a digital multiplexer that I didn’t know. Maybe I still did fairly well, but let’s just say that at least I may have gotton half of the questions right , if not more.
Then they started asking me more technical questions, in which they would ask me questions , and I would say the right answer, but when they asked me why, I had a hard time explaining how things worked, and I would sometimes take back my answer, and change it even though it was right the first time. There were a few technical questions they asked me.
Then they gave me a schematic of a DC to DC converter and told me to look at it and tell them about the schematic.
I looked at it and told them that it was a DC to DC converter and told them that it converted the 15V to a positive and negative 13 V, but I had a hard time explaining to them about things in the circuit that made it work. I was able to explain some of it. but not much, and I was a little tense/nervous. It was for a test engineer position
Should I kiss it goodbye? Did I do that bad of a job?
