How can I connect my router and Motorola Cable Modem to each other w/o an ethernet cord?

There is only 1 ethernet jack in the motorola modem, and that goes directly to my computer, but to use wifi, my router must be connected to the modem as well. I have a linksys router. Is there any other plug I could use to connect the two?

Thanks

What material do I need and how do I connect it together so that the CAT5 wall mounts in each bedroom work?

So, in the electric box area hidden in one my closets, there is a bundle of blue CAT5 cables that do not have the RJ45 connectors. My plan is to buy a patch panel and punch in the wires from each CAT5 cable from each bedroom. I’m pretty stumped from there. In the patch panel, there are 12 ports and I will be using about 4 of them. I’ve bought 4 small patch cables, but I don’t know if I’m supposed to connect the patch cables from from the patch panel to the router, or to somewhere else? Can someone help me please? Thanks.

Which Cisco device I could use to limit the Internet Bandwidth at each port? Do I need a layer 3 Cisco Switch?

I have a 256 kbps Internet connection and several users. I want to put an upper limit of bandwidth usage by the users. I want to implement this strategy in my company. Can you tell me the name of the Cisco Switch which can efficiently do this and also allow VLANs and VTP (both dot1q and isl)?

On a twisted pair phone outlet, what does each wire do?

I have cat5e cabling and use blue/blue/whitestrip for line 1 and use green / green/white stripe for line 2.

For each line, is one wire for transmitting and one is for receiving?

Problem: I have to log In to internet each time? (att dsl) & att tech support was no help!?

Can any tech-inclined person help me with this problem?
OK, I have at&t dsl.
In the past, I had SBCYahoo! and all I had to do was click on the IE icon and Im online.
NOW, with att I have to:
1. right click on the 2 pcs icon (located on the bottom right of the taskbar – right next to the volume icon, near the time)
2. then I scroll up to “connect to a network”
3. a connect to a network window pops up and I click on Broadband connection – PPPoE connection
4. then the actual log in box comes up (it says connect broadband connection on top), I’ve saved my username and password or else it would be an even longer process…
5. finally, I click connect…
6. after a few seconds, It says successfully connected to broadband connection
seriously, I just want to click the “blue e” or Firefox icon. Isnt DSL supposed to be always on?
Once, I had a wireless network installed, is this the problem even though the router isn’t connected now?
How can I stay connected without having to do this each time?

can i setup my comp to have a static IP at home & dynamic at school w/out changing the TCPIP config each time?

so i need to have a static ip on my home network for port forwarding….so i setup the tcp/ip to do so, and it worked great.

then i got to school, and it wouldn’t connect…i realized it was the static ip, so i changed the tcp/ip config to “obtain ip address automatically”….and it works

whats lame is that in the tcp/ip config, there are radio buttons for the dynamic and static…lets say you put values in the static, then click the radio button for the dynamic, even though the static is disabled, it deletes all the values for the static.

so i get to school, disable the static…then when i get home, i have to manually re-enter the ip, mask, gateway and dns servers….this is a pain, and should not be….

is there anyway to have both these configs setup to work without manually re-entering the static info every time i get home?

can it be done with multiple profiles? i have a dell insprion E1505 laptop, which uses intel PROSet/wireless to connect to both my home and school
FYI, i have not played around with different profiles and setting, because i just have not had the time, and can’t afford to waste time fiddling around. What better way to save time then to ask an expert who has had success.

Thanks

IP telephony network, but remote sites can’t talk to each other?

My company has an Ip telephony network, that consists of 3com NBX, PIX fire wall, and fail over fire wall, Cisco switch, IP telephony sets, and cisco routers,

Remote sites are connected to internet through SDSL cisco routers, but they can’t talk to each other, while any remote office can talk to main office, and vise versa.

If a remote office tries to call another remote one the other will here the ringing, but once he tries to answer, they can’t hear each othe,

Is there anybody can help suggesting some possible reasons.?

What are the cheapest for each type of internet network connections? For dial-up, dsl/cable 256/768, t1, etc.?

I want to know the cheapest for dial-up (56k), dsl/cable (256k and 768k), t1 (1.5m), t2 (6m), t3 (45m), services out there and also for other internet connection types that I haven’t listed.
OC-3 is another one I just found.
Not looking for anything specific, just to see what could be in my budget. Netzero has a 3g dial-up connection, but have no idea how fast it is. T1 stuff are pretty much not worth it to me but never know.

Why are faster connections so expensive anyway?

What’s the difference between IMAP and MAPI e-mail and how would you set each up?

if the christians believe in 3 Gods or maybe 4, dont you think they would fight each other to attain # 1 pstn.?

I mean in this world we see every son dethroning his own king father. every now and than in the history and the present. Come on.. the grudge cannot be taken out of the thought. ever. whether human or super being? This means the Jews and the Muslims would have a better concept? (Christians) please answer my concern!!!! Because the Hindu Gods always fight each other for power and more followers..
