Static vs Dynamic IP address… what’s best 4 your CCTV DVR

What’s better for your CCTV DVR… a Static IP address or a Dynamic IP address? Learn the differences, and why a Dynamic IP address may be best for you.

can i setup my comp to have a static IP at home & dynamic at school w/out changing the TCPIP config each time?

so i need to have a static ip on my home network for port forwarding….so i setup the tcp/ip to do so, and it worked great.

then i got to school, and it wouldn’t connect…i realized it was the static ip, so i changed the tcp/ip config to “obtain ip address automatically”….and it works

whats lame is that in the tcp/ip config, there are radio buttons for the dynamic and static…lets say you put values in the static, then click the radio button for the dynamic, even though the static is disabled, it deletes all the values for the static.

so i get to school, disable the static…then when i get home, i have to manually re-enter the ip, mask, gateway and dns servers….this is a pain, and should not be….

is there anyway to have both these configs setup to work without manually re-entering the static info every time i get home?

can it be done with multiple profiles? i have a dell insprion E1505 laptop, which uses intel PROSet/wireless to connect to both my home and school

Please make me understand the difference between static ip, dynamic ip, private ip, public ip, dns, and dhcp??

Anybody use SBC Yahoo DSL know what type of internet connection it is – static IP, dynamic IP, PPPoE??

I want to set up a wireless router to my roommate’s computer so I can connect mine to the internet – I got a D-Link DI-524 router and in setup you have to choose dynamic IP, static IP, PPPoE – which does the SBC (ATT now) Yahoo DSL use?? In the oook it says most DSL uses the PPPoE but……
Also it tells me to make sure that in the LAN Properties I have it set up to “Obtain IP address automatically”, but her computer is set up with the other option “Use the following IP address” – if I change it, will it mess up her computer and it won’t be able to connect to the internet? (and does this mean it’s set up with a static IP address?)
This is all on Windows XP Home

FYI, i have not played around with different profiles and setting, because i just have not had the time, and can’t afford to waste time fiddling around. What better way to save time then to ask an expert who has had success.

Thanks

Can DHCP be set in one site to provide dynamic address in another site?

Say, I have a network or 172.45.5.1 in New York, and a network in LA with a 172.45.10.1…Is it possible to set up DHCP on my NYC servers in order to dynamically assign addresses to clients in LA without having them being assigned to the NY clients?
RRAS using a DHCP relay agent maybe?

DHCP Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol by Khurram Tanvir

How does a DHCP server identify an specific computer before the dynamic IP address is assigned?

What is my internet connection type, Dynamic (DHCP),Static IP Connection, or PPPoE.?

I need this information to add a Wireless Router to my computer

What does PPPoE mean when talking about IPaddresses, as compared to static & dynamic

Will it affect speed or how long it would take to load up my homepage & why is it cheaper than the other 2 (static & dynamic)
